Casual Looks for Fall

Posted on 12 October 2008 by atek

I love Fall weather. To keep warm, I like to mix and match pieces for a casual and comfortable look that features leather, pleather, bright colors, fringe and men’s inspired styles.

Mix and layer tops with cardigans and jackets during the day. For nights out on the town, flatter your waist by tucking in a fitted cami underneath a high waisted skirt. Wear skirts, dresses and loose tops with leggings or tights to complete the look - and keep your legs warm at night.

These are some of my favorite pieces for Fall:

1. Miss Sixty Ankle Boots

2. Marc Jacobs Neon Pink Handbag

3. Stussy Robot Necklace

4. Antik Batik Scarf

5. Goorin Brothers Fedora Hat

6. Giles for Evoke Jewelry

7. Insight Flannel Top

8. Juicy Couture Mini-Black Jacket

9. Urban Renewal Mens Inspired Blazer

10. Costume Dept. Leggings

11. Vanessa Bruna Fringe Bag

12. Haute Hippie Fringe Cardigan

Too Hot Not to Cop: Jill Stuart Giselle Clutch

Posted on 08 October 2008 by Mona Alice Oakenfold

Over here at KB, us ladies can never have enough handbags. And that’s a fact. But when it comes to adding to our collection, we have pretty discerning taste. However, this Giselle Clutch by Jill Stuart definitely makes the cut.

New Yorker Jill Stuart has designed a lot of bags since launching her collection in 1993, so she knows what she’s doing. It’s no wonder then that this clutch mixes modern functionality with vintage whimsey and tough-girl black leather.

The chain fringe and buttery-soft leather are definitely very sexy, while the pendant-style tab and the zipper pocket at the back lend some tougher elements to an otherwise feminine clutch. What I really love about this clutch though is the metal rod hidden at the top of the clutch to act as a sturdy handle. I have carried, sorry, clutched, many a clutch in my time, and yet the thing I find most annoying about clutches, is that bigger ones are often very difficult to carry, unless you plan to have it under your arm all night. But Jill Stuart has fixed that problem with this saavy little handle, allowing you to show off the rest of the bag as you hold it as well.

The Jill Stuart Giselle Clutch regularly rings in at $395, however, you can cop yourself a bag over at Shopbop.com for just $276.50. Definitely, too hot not to cop!

Too Hot Not to Cop: Kooba Mandy Clutch

Posted on 29 August 2008 by Mona Alice Oakenfold

My fave bag of the moment, whether i’m going casual or dressing up, has got to be the clutch. I love love LOVE the clutch. It’s the perfect accessory because a simple black leather clutch won’t distract from an already-busy or attention-grabbing outfit, and yet, the right clutch can add the perfect amount of intrigue to an otherwise dull jeans and T-shirt. So, after scouring the web for the perfect black leather clutch, dear readers, I think that I’ve found the perfect one in Kooba’s Mandy Clutch.

Kooba is a favorite amongst Hollywood “it” girls as their fine leather goods are not too, too expensive and yet they never skimp on craftsmanship or originality. This particular bag is made of buttery-soft leather and ribbed cotton lining. At 12″W x 8″H x 1.5″D, the clutch has the perfect amount of room for your phone, lip gloss, wallet, etc., and yet isn’t as big as those oversized envelope clutches that sometimes look clumsy. The top folds over and is secured by a snap closure, while the zipper adds an exterior pocket as well as a tough-girl edge.

This clutch will definitely last you through the seasons and at $365, it definitely won’t break a fashionista’s budget.

Posted on 29 August 2008 by DT

Final weekend for the end of season sale at one of my favorite stores {ie, also known as Illustrated Example. I myself will definitely be checking this out for some of the Surface to Air gear along with some Corpus and possibly Porter stuff as well, as I am looking for a bag. This store is definitely a favorite amongst Vacouverites and I have to say the dudes at the store are always mad chill and helpful, not pretentious at all as some stores can be at times.

So if you’re in the Gastown area in Vancouver then swing on by and check this sale out.

Raf Simons x Eastpak

Posted on 13 August 2008 by DT

Raf Simons’ much sought after capsule collection of high fashion technical bags made in collaboration with Eastpak returns to oki-ni.

The styling for AW08 is more traditional than last season with inspiration taken from the trends and moods of Raf Simons’ own catwalk. The bags have been produced in strictly limited quantities and have been developed to be accessible to an audience that is fashion conscious, alternative and inherently cool.

I love the Flap bag (pictured above) and am definitely thinking of copping that, although the Kitpack looks so ill.

Coach carryall

Posted on 03 August 2008 by Hallie Valentine

Coach keeps pumping out the bags as quickly as I can fall in love with them. Here’s another from the Hamptons line I’m totally loving. I think it is, once again, the purple. This also comes in mahogany brown and black. I said it once, but I’ll say it again. Those three colours, along with raspberry, are going to be smoking in the fall. Anyway, I really like the solid shape and design of this one.
