Here is a pleasant Monday morning surprise for you all. Fred Perry and Stussy Deluxe have joined forces to bring us a new mini capsule collection.  Entitled, ‘Blank Canvas‘, six pieces consisting of a logo(s) tee, check patterned long sleeve button down and several outerwear pieces.  ‘Blank Canvas‘ is due out in February 2010 and I’m sure a lot of us simply can’t wait.

In the past, we’ve seen Stussy team up with Vans, Nike and Dr. Martens.  Recently, Stussy La has set their eyes on Clae for a collabo project.  The above pair of Clae Kennedy has an all canvas upper with a navy base, thick beige piping and a leather heel Clae tag.  Other fine details include a red Clae tongue logo, what appears to be slightly waxed laces and a houndstooth sock liner.  Expect these to come out at the end of October in a very limited run of 100.

Stussy and renown US based workwear brand, Dickies linked up to bring us the above classic Work Pant.  The 874 Work Pant receives a wide array of colors to include 4 solids and 2 plaid with both brands’ logos above the right back pocket.  Currently Stussy Japan has these in stock.  The two plaid pairs will mostlikely sell like hotcakes.  Which brings up the question, they didn’t apply plaid onto more colorways?

Stussy and Stone Throw presents Peanut Butter Wolf, Dam-Funk, Mayer Hawthorne & James Pants live in concert. In conjunction with Stone Throw, Stussy has designed four shirts (2 designs, 2 colorways) for the 2009 Tour. Two of these will be sold on the Stones Throw US Tour (dates below) and the other two will be sold at Stussy shops. For the readers in Washington, check back for more information regarding the DC show for a special event at Stussy DC.

I’ve grown to love the Chukka silhouette over the past several months.  Therefore, this Stussy and Dr. Martens collabo Desert Boot is right up my alley.  Periwinkle may not be my preferred upper of choice, but with the tonal stitching and orange laces are just right.  Evidence of Stussy’s rework are embossed on the heel and tongue.  My only wish would be a crepe sole like the ones found on the Clarks Desert Boot.  Theres no word yet as far as an exact release date, but Fall 2009 is the scheduled season.  Check back with us as I’ve got my eyes on these.  Just hope I’ll have the funds to cop them by then.

Its official ladies!  The new Hellz Bellz Spring 2009 Collection, “Culture Clash“, lookbook was released earlier this week.  By far, this is one of my favorite lines released by the female streetwear brand. The first t-shirt that I bought from Hellz was back in 2006.  Its always great to see a brand grow and develop to offer their customers a variety of options in apparel and not just the typical “line of t-shirts”.

All the street savvy ladies are in for a real treat this month. Hellz Bellz has also teamed up with Stussy on the ”Ladies First!!” collection.

I haven’t received the official release date for “Culture Clash”. However, Stussy DC has confirmed that the “Ladies First!!” collection will be available at the DC Chapter store on March 7th (big ups to L for the word). Check out the entire collections belw.

Available right now over at Stussy is a collaboration t-shirt between Stussy, Nas and NexusVII. The story behind the shirt is that Nas did a one night only show at ZEPP Tokyo on December 12th in 2008 and in celebration of the night and his latest album, the three heads came together to create this set of limited edition tees. As you can see these tees feature iconic Nas images and song titles (”Make the World Go Round”, “Black President” and “World is Yours), while the back of the shirt keeps it simple with the three logos of the collaborators. After attending the Diplo event at Commonwealth DC a few weeks ago, Van and I decided to head out to Florida Avenue early last night for the Clipse in store appearance for the drop of Play Cloths and their new mixtape.  Per usual, parking was challenging in Adams Morgan.  However, we were able to find a decent spot, one block away from the shops.

We arrived a little after eight and already, there was a line forming outside of Commonwealth.  The Commonwealth crew were posted at the door to control the crowd.  It was 40 degrees outside, yet everyone remained calm and cool.

It was a huge turn out.  The Washington Post featured an article about Commonwealth, Stussy and For the Greater Good in the Arts & Living Section on Monday.  Word on the streets must’ve traveled fast because it was crowded.  The fashionistas, sneaker heads, skaters, music fanatics and everyone else in between were in attendance.

As the night continued, Pusha-T (one half of the Clipse) appeared.  He was bombarded with photos and autographs.  I spotted Wale at the end of the night as well.  The crowd was jamming to Road To Till The Casket Drops and some of the Clipse’s older tracks. The music was bumpin and grindin, the drinks were flowing and the vibe was good last night.

It was dude infested but there were some ladies at the event as well.

We grabbed sushi at Saki after the event and rolled out to Fly with Roland, Larry and Omar.  I’m exhausted from last night.

Whoever said DC was boring, needs to re-evaluate that statement.  There’s clearly something going on in the nation’s capital and it’s an exciting time to be here.

On Friday, November 7th, Vancouverite Jeff Martin launched his latest retail store called Freshmans, which is conveniently located downtown Vancouver along Robson Street. Those in the city know that Jeff Martin also owns another local store called Dipt and has been up and running successfully since 2000.

So why another store under a different name? Well, quite simply put, Freshmans is for the grown gentleman. Carrying brands such as Bruxe, Canada Goose, Crooks & Castles, Hot Air, Levi’s, PRPS, Reigning Champ, Staple, Stussy Deluxe, Converse, Gourmet and Clae to name just a few. The lines that are carried will be more simple with a back to basics approach while helping you look fly and not like a kid will all over prints.

For many years, an easy DIY (do it yourself) costume among teenage girls during Halloween was the Catholic School girl look. After Brit’s “. . . Baby One More Time” video appeared on MTV, teenage girls began to channel the artists’ outfit during Halloween. The holiday falls at the end of the week but this post is not about wanna-be Britneys, it’s about the ’90s grunge inspiration on fall 2008 runways.

Ready to Wear 2008 from Alexander Wang, Bailman and Preen showcased many looks inspired from ’90s grunge music. Many celebrities have been photographed wearing leggings, leather jackets, Dr. Martin’s boots, chucks and plaid clothing.

Plaid has reappeared from the ’90s and into Fall 2008’s must-have item of the season.  Good bye Catholic school girl outfits and hello to grunge hotties!

For Women, I like to piece together a fitted plaid top, tucked underneath a high-waisted black skirt. If you’re saving up for the holidays, barrow your boyfriend’s plaid button up and pair it with leggings. I like Micsha’s punk rock inspired outfit below.

To emphasize on your waist, complete the look with a belt (pictured below by Heidi Montag).

During the end of September, Stussy released new clothing and accessories for the girl’s fall collection. In collaboration with Commonwealth, limited edition Mexico City Olympic t-shirts (in black and white) were released on the same day.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to preview the new items when some friends were in town. Between rehersals, speaking to the press, meeting fans and performing on the (ABDC) live show, their free time is very limited. In addition to sightseeing, my friends had a day off and wanted to  shop. They were not interested in going to the local mall.  Georgetown and Florida Avenue are some of my favorite spots to shop in this area. Florida Avenue, intersects with a neighborhood comprised of residential housing, restaurants, $4 pizza marts, bars, retail shops, a tennis court and an area for skaters to practice tricks.

That weekend took place during the second opening week of Florida Avenue’s newest retail store, For the Greater Good, is the latest addition to the Adams Morgan neighborhood, sitting alongside Stussy’s Chapter Store and Commonwealth DC. For the Greater Good carries footwear, accessories and apparel for men. Names like Converse, YMC, Fall Count Japan, New York Hat Co. and Ray Ban are among the brands on display. Consumers can browse collections from other brands like Public School (a sophisticated twist of NYC street fashion from Dao-Yi and Maxwell).

The new store offers a contemporary and refined version of the items carried at Commonwealth. It’s going to be interesting to see how this store will evolve and grow within the next generation of fashionable guys.

A couple years ago, DC was considered by many a city that lacks taste and style. Has the perception of fashion in the city changed? It certainly has (in my opinion), fashion is finally making a presence in the nation’s capital.

Final weekend for the end of season sale at one of my favorite stores {ie, also known as Illustrated Example. I myself will definitely be checking this out for some of the Surface to Air gear along with some Corpus and possibly Porter stuff as well, as I am looking for a bag. This store is definitely a favorite amongst Vacouverites and I have to say the dudes at the store are always mad chill and helpful, not pretentious at all as some stores can be at times.

Commonwealth is having a HUGE Spring time cleaning sale this weekend all the way through the 18th. If I heard my coworker correctly, he walked out with a pair of uptown supremes for under 50 bills during the last big sale. Don’t sleep! This sale is not just limited to citizens of DC metroland and Norfolk, VA. The sale is applied to the online front as well. This is the perfect time to try on a pair of CLAE’s.

Stussy recently released group 2 of their limited edition “Customade Our Gang” series. The second group of gangs includes: Mister Cartoon, a well known tattoo artist, Gary Panter, an established illustrator, designer and painter, and John Pound, also an established illustrator. The Stussy 2008 sunglass collection has arrived. All frames are 100% Italian handmade and designed with Stussy’s classic history kept in mind. All Frames are fitted with shatterproof CR39 lenses which provide 100% UVA/UVB protection. These glasses will be available soon at Stussy chapter stores and fine boutiques around the globe. As a special product release, the Stussy Japan x Hiroshi Fujiwara sunglass model will also be available. Personally I’m feeling the majority of the collection. A few of the pieces definitely seem to have been influenced by certain pieces from the collections of Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and Ray Ban to name a few.
