Casual Looks for Fall

Posted on 12 October 2008 by atek

I love Fall weather. To keep warm, I like to mix and match pieces for a casual and comfortable look that features leather, pleather, bright colors, fringe and men’s inspired styles.

Mix and layer tops with cardigans and jackets during the day. For nights out on the town, flatter your waist by tucking in a fitted cami underneath a high waisted skirt. Wear skirts, dresses and loose tops with leggings or tights to complete the look - and keep your legs warm at night.

These are some of my favorite pieces for Fall:

1. Miss Sixty Ankle Boots

2. Marc Jacobs Neon Pink Handbag

3. Stussy Robot Necklace

4. Antik Batik Scarf

5. Goorin Brothers Fedora Hat

6. Giles for Evoke Jewelry

7. Insight Flannel Top

8. Juicy Couture Mini-Black Jacket

9. Urban Renewal Mens Inspired Blazer

10. Costume Dept. Leggings

11. Vanessa Bruna Fringe Bag

12. Haute Hippie Fringe Cardigan

For The Greater Good

Posted on 08 October 2008 by atek

During the end of September, Stussy released new clothing and accessories for the girl’s fall collection. In collaboration with Commonwealth, limited edition Mexico City Olympic t-shirts (in black and white) were released on the same day.

Last weekend, I had the opportunity to preview the new items when some friends were in town. Between rehersals, speaking to the press, meeting fans and performing on the (ABDC) live show, their free time is very limited. In addition to sightseeing, my friends had a day off and wanted to  shop. They were not interested in going to the local mall.  Georgetown and Florida Avenue are some of my favorite spots to shop in this area. Florida Avenue, intersects with a neighborhood comprised of residential housing, restaurants, $4 pizza marts, bars, retail shops, a tennis court and an area for skaters to practice tricks.

That weekend took place during the second opening week of Florida Avenue’s newest retail store, For the Greater Good, is the latest addition to the Adams Morgan neighborhood, sitting alongside Stussy’s Chapter Store and Commonwealth DC. For the Greater Good carries footwear, accessories and apparel for men. Names like Converse, YMC, Fall Count Japan, New York Hat Co. and Ray Ban are among the brands on display. Consumers can browse collections from other brands like Public School (a sophisticated twist of NYC street fashion from Dao-Yi and Maxwell).

The new store offers a contemporary and refined version of the items carried at Commonwealth. It’s going to be interesting to see how this store will evolve and grow within the next generation of fashionable guys.

A couple years ago, DC was considered by many a city that lacks taste and style. Has the perception of fashion in the city changed? It certainly has (in my opinion), fashion is finally making a presence in the nation’s capital.

Thanks to the Commonwealth family for keeping my friends fresh during their time in DC.

{ie Final weekend 50-70% off

Posted on 29 August 2008 by DT

Final weekend for the end of season sale at one of my favorite stores {ie, also known as Illustrated Example. I myself will definitely be checking this out for some of the Surface to Air gear along with some Corpus and possibly Porter stuff as well, as I am looking for a bag. This store is definitely a favorite amongst Vacouverites and I have to say the dudes at the store are always mad chill and helpful, not pretentious at all as some stores can be at times.

So if you’re in the Gastown area in Vancouver then swing on by and check this sale out.

Spring Cleaning Sale @ Commonwealth

Posted on 06 May 2008 by Van

Commonwealth is having a HUGE Spring time cleaning sale this weekend all the way through the 18th. If I heard my coworker correctly, he walked out with a pair of uptown supremes for under 50 bills during the last big sale. Don’t sleep! This sale is not just limited to citizens of DC metroland and Norfolk, VA. The sale is applied to the online front as well. This is the perfect time to try on a pair of CLAE’s.

Stussy ‘08 Sunglasses

Posted on 28 April 2008 by DT

The Stussy 2008 sunglass collection has arrived. All frames are 100% Italian handmade and designed with Stussy’s classic history kept in mind. All Frames are fitted with shatterproof CR39 lenses which provide 100% UVA/UVB protection. These glasses will be available soon at Stussy chapter stores and fine boutiques around the globe. As a special product release, the Stussy Japan x Hiroshi Fujiwara sunglass model will also be available. Personally I’m feeling the majority of the collection. A few of the pieces definitely seem to have been influenced by certain pieces from the collections of Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and Ray Ban to name a few. Click on through the jump below to see the rest of the collection.
