I really need to ask Danny Roldan how much time he spends on his customs. The detailing is always so precise. What I love most about this munny submission is the underlying faint splash of pink on the back side. It can be missed easily as the multitude of patterns take center stage. But once spotted, one can only grin and think how brilliant the placement is.

So the first pair of Vimobots Danny Roldan produced were an instant classic. And both were spoken for shortly afterwards. This time Danny aka Optikmass broke the rule of two and produced three Vimobots. Every succeeding release has proven to be a hit. Without a doubt, these probably have already been copped. I can’t wait to see what he has in store at the APW Qee show. Make the leap to see the rest of this set.

Conveniently, the weekend I am visiting the Ali-Brahms, this show is happening. Even better is the fact that their neighbor, Cool Vader, has a submission. Finally, another delightful surprise is Danny Roldan aka Optikmass is also displaying his work. It’ll be great to see both artists’s work in person.

Danny Roldan of Optikmass recently sent some work our way. The last time around were two Munnys, Taura and Kokoro. This time the canvas comes in the shape of a Vimobot. Vimobots are the vinyl-only counterpart to their jump drive sibling, the Mimobots. Two things are now a fact. Danny Roldan loves objects in pairs and he has a penchant for painting obscure imagery onto vinyl. The above is named Syth and after the leap, you’ll see another Vimobot named Mavet. When it comes to art nowadays, the medium bares no boundaries. Optikmass is a visual communications and design studio. They also produce urban vinyl art. With that said, the above image is the efforts of Danny Roldan of Optikmass. Danny actually sent me several pics of two visually stunning munnys. One goes by the name Taura and another, Kokoro. Of the two, Kokoro has a “character” feel to it. Although, both have complex fractal shapes, I can’t help but think of mushi matter from the anime, Mushi Shi.
