Washington, DC figureheads Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom first joined forces in the fall of 2007 for their weekly party “trap”. Every week after some heavy drinking, the two discussed the meaning of life and a few song ideas they had. Their initial tracks caught the attention of Dave “Switch” Taylor who immediately wanted them for his legendary Dubsided imprint. With tunes getting support from the likes of Diplo, A-trak, Tittsworth, The Rub, Craze, Stereo Faith, Klever, Drop the Lime, and Jokers of the Scene, these dudes look to set the game on fire.
First of all congratulations on a wonderful debut at the Mad Decent party here in Philly, you guys had the crowd going off the chain, they were going insane.
((Laughter from my rhyming sentence))))
So who makes up Nadastrom?
DAVE: Nadastrom is Matt Nordstrom and Dave Nada, hence Nadastrom
(((Laughter)))
How did you come up with the name?
D: Umm I guess a little basic math, but we had another name but we thought it’d be a little too controversial but we’ll keep that on the wraps…
The original track is good. The Dave Nada x Matt Nordstrom = Nadastrom remix of Estelle’s single is even better. Check it. Hopefully, this will get some air play at The RIPOFF.
The Ripoff begins this Wednesday, April 16th. So now on top of the U street corridor and H street, you can get your electro fix in Georgetown. The Ripoff is an electro and indie dance party held on a monthly basis. The debut will feature a handful of local talent to include Matt Nordstrom, Gavin Holland, Chris Houston and my pal, Scotty Bebop. Noteworthy is the flyer now sports Bigstereo’s logo. Endorsement by a respectable music blog is indeed noteworthy. I’ll be there, will you?
DC’s nightlife has been developing quite the healthy underground dance party scene. More electro bangers, more French house/disco, B’more club. THE RIPOFF is a party that will debut 4.16.08 @ Club Modern. Guests djs of that evening will consists of Gavin Holland of Noveau Riche/In-Deed on XM Radio fame, my pal, Matt Nordstrom of Deep Dish along with residents, ScotRobot and Chris Houston. I take it each will get an hour slot. If you’re in the area and love you some indie dance parties, please do come out and support. $7 cover on a Wednesday night for 4 djs. It will rule.
If you’re into electro, you should know Ed Banger. If you know Ed Banger, you’re probably familiar with all those blog sites that push forth good electro and indie music. Aside from Missingtoof,BigStereo and Kidz by Colette, Fluokids is another music blog I frequent. Redhotcar and Pharrell of Fluokids will bless DC with a set alongside the Sleaze crew. Plus, I’m always down to support my friends, Matt Nordstrom and James “Simon” Pattee. I’m going to end this post with a quote from my home girl, Dana.
I got this info rather a bit too late. I’ve actually never heard of Dr. Davidian, but my longtime friend Simon of Sleaze and Matt Nordstrom of Deep Dish fame are involved. If electro makes you itching to go out on a work/school night, this party comes highly recommended.
