Lykke Li recently just rocked and completed her North American tour and has now announced that she will be back starting end of January in Washington DC. Fingers crossed on my end this time that there aren’t multiple acts booked on the same night, which is what happened the last time she was in Vancouver. Yelle and Citizen Cope were both booked that night as well. For this upcoming tour fellow Swedish band Wildbirds & Peacedrums will be joining her.
Here’s an email message that was sent out by Lykke Li:
I am still in New York having fun, before I soon head over back to Europe to kick off my next European tour starting Monday in Dublin. But I´ll be back shaking my hips on these shores soon….
I had so much fun on my last North American tour that I recently finished – many thanks to all of you that came out to dance with me! And since that tour was sold out almost everywhere, I felt I needed to come back and give you folks another chance to see me and my boys perform.

For this week’s Mixtape Monday, I found the above gem from Paul Tao’s site, Hate Something Beautiful. The Devil Made Me Do It is a duo from United Kingdom that classify their work as “melodramatic pop music”. The tracklist features fan favorites such as reworks of M.I.A., Madonna , Lykke Li and of course Hercules and Love Affair. But what really caught my ears is Q Lazzarus’s hit, Goodbye Horses. Some may instantly recall the song from The Silence of the Lambs. Although I’m sure no one wants to recall the imagery when this track played in the movie Aside from that, the only other time I’ve heard Ms. Lazzarus’s track was from Mishka x Math Head’s “I Like Your Poetry, But I Hate Your Poems Volume 1.”
Listen to the stream above, be sold by the intro and download the mix here.

Just released this morning straight from Lykke Li is this alternate video that was shot for the song “Breaking It Up”, the original video can be seen here. This alternate video was shot all in one take live in Stockholm and features her with her whole band playing behind her. The visuals are great in the original vid, but I love the raw sound on the alternate video.

Here’s a video of Lykke Li and Bon Iver doing “Dance Dance Dance” sent through from Lykke Li via her publist. In her email she writes:
The scenario: We were in LA at the same time and hooked up for some whisky before his show…
And oh yes, I kinda started singing one of my songs and he kinda started singing along. And guess what? Bam di di bam, we got it on film. As real as it will ever be. The air was fresh, the night was young, his voice was deep, yet so high!
And so were we?
Also be sure to catch her in concert in your city.

Swedish songstress Lykke Li is all but 22 years old, but her debut album, Youth Novels, is making heads turn. An explosion of electronic pop-rock with a little new age thrown into the mix, Lykke Li’s raspy, almost childlike vocals transcend lightly-layered, minimalist instrumentals. Singles “I’m Good I’m Gone,” “Little Bit” and “Breaking It Up” are already impacting global airwaves, not to mention Lykke Li’s avant-garde sense of personal style, which has been heavily noted by more than one fashionista. Despite her busy touring schedule (read: over 25 stops which include Paris, London, New York, Vancouver, San Francisco and Copenhagen), Lykke Li gave Killahbeez a hot minute to answer a few questions that have been on our minds.
You’ve been touring a lot lately! First with El Perro Del Mar and now, solo. How is that going?
It’s going very well, thank you. Over my expectations!
Continuing to post all the new tracks. First up is Lykke Li and a remix of her song “Little Bit” by Loving Hand, definitely some hotness here. Also don’t forget her album has finally hit stateside, so be sure to cop that. After that we got Bloc Party’s new song “Trojan Horse” off of their album Intimacy, which has a release date of October, but is being officially digitally released on the 21st of August, this is to help combat piracy. We also have three sick remixes, Ladyhawke’s “Dusk Till Dawn” gets remixed by Linus Loves and Vinyl Man & Wax Boy kill it with the “Everyone Nose” and finally Yelle’s latest single “Ce Jeu” gets remixed as well.
Lykke Li “Little Bit” Loving Hand Remix
Bloc Party “Trojan Horse”
Ladyhawke “Dusk Till Dawn” Linus Loves Remix
N.E.R.D. “Everyone Nose” Vinyl Man & Wax Boy LA Coke Bars Remix
A couple of new remixes, well to be honest I’m not too sure whether or not the Lykke Li remix is new, but it’s newly discovered for moi and I thought I’d share. First up is M.I.A. featuring Jim Jones, together they’ve remixed the song “Paper Planes”. The next remix as I mentioned is Lykke Li’s single “I’m Good I’m Gone” and is remixed by the Black Kids, whom we actually interviewed and can be read here.
Swedish export and one of my current favorite pop sounds, Lykke Li, has released a third single off her debut album, Youth Novels. “Breaking It Up” follows “I’m Good, I’m Gone” and “Little Bit” and continues to showcase Lykke Li’s hot electro lo-fi pop sound.
In the video, Lykke Li lets her hair down and resumes the role of the femme fatale, seemingly paying homage to Fiona Apple’s famed “Criminal” video. The single has a very sparse, dark pop sound, and the video no doubt matches in visuals.
Currently on tour promoting her album, Lykke Li will swing by nine North American cities starting late October.
