So I’ve been reading a lot of these “Top 10 albums of 2008″ list in the last little while and decided, hell our staff here at Killahbeez has some pretty dope taste in music, we should also do one. So we’ve compiled a list from our writers annnnnd on top of that we’ve reached out to people that we’ve worked with in the past year such as Jeff Hamada from Booooooom, Sasha Lee from Halcyon Magazine, Michael Halford from Orland Kurtenblog and Sean La-La from Spectrum Events. This process was a tough one for all of us as we all hated narrowing it down to 10 and then ranking them created some nightmares. For this Mixtape Monday we found this Kitsune Noir mix by James Kane aka Teen Creep. According to Kitsune’s site James Kane is an up-and-coming DJ from Australia that’s been making some waves with his remixes.

As you can see from the tracklistings, his mix is pretty eclectic. Includes everything from Ladyhawke, Hall & Oates, Prince, Elton John and the list goes on. Have a listen to the stream below or download it and take it to go on your drive in to work. In any case it’s pretty good.

Lady Phillipa never ceases to amaze me.  Fans can always count on her videos to be fun, danceable and contain catchy lyrics that takes you back to the sound of the 80’s.  Here is the official promo video to the single, “My Delirium”.  The video itself reminds me of a clash between this film, Interstate 60 and A-Ha’s “Take On Me”.  Expect the single to drop on December 8th.  But for now enjoy the music video.  One question,  are we going to see a video for “Another Runaway” anytime soon Modular?

Continuing to post all the new tracks. First up is Lykke Li and a remix of her song “Little Bit” by Loving Hand, definitely some hotness here. Also don’t forget her album has finally hit stateside, so be sure to cop that. After that we got Bloc Party’s new song “Trojan Horse” off of their album Intimacy, which has a release date of October, but is being officially digitally released on the 21st of August, this is to help combat piracy. We also have three sick remixes, Ladyhawke’s “Dusk Till Dawn” gets remixed by Linus Loves and Vinyl Man & Wax Boy kill it with the “Everyone Nose” and finally Yelle’s latest single “Ce Jeu” gets remixed as well.

Here is Ladyhawke’s latest music video entitled, Dusk Till Dawn. Thankfully the cheesy horror theme doesn’t overshadow this beautiful and very danceable track. In fact, Keith Schofield’s costume characters actually complement the atmosphere by creating a fun Halloween party-esque music video.

Like AJK mentioned earlier, we’re definitely groupies of Modular Recordings.  Check out the above live video of ‘Embrace’ and see how fun the video looks.  Dancing fruits, a massive crowd and some chick filling in for Ladyhawke in a bridal gown. I’m slightly curious as to how this live video was edited to resemble a Chuck Anderson photo print.

Man…lol…I’m starting to feel like a bit of a Modular groupie - but for real, Ladyhawke’s “Paris is Burning” is already such a great track - add Cut Copy’s magic touch and it pretty much puts this jam at the top ranks of my summer playlist. The percussion is ridiculous and the grand build up to the chorus will have you cutting the rug/pumping your fist (whichever you’re more prone to) once it kicks.

Now we just gotta wait for this to release in North America, but in the meantime have a taste.

This is definitely Modular’s year.. Van She is one of two acts on the horizon for album releases in the near future -  Ladyhawke being the other.

“Strangers” is the first single from Van She’s upcoming full length.
