Here’s the latest video from MSTRKRFT for the single “Heartbreaker”, which features vocals from John Legend. The song can be found on the latest album, Fists of God. The video was directed by Vincent Haycock who described the video as “Set in a run-down Los Angeles 99 cent-type store, this video is a stylish visual story about two young lovers who find a moment of transcendence amidst the decay and commerce.”

Also below the music video is them perfoming this song live on David Letterman, this time was alot better than when they performed on Jimmy Kimmel with Nore. That was a bit of a mess.

As I was scanning through photos from Time’s World Most Influential People Party, I came across a photo of Oprah and M.I.A. I thought it was great to see these two individuals photographed together. The list also includes President Obama and the First Lady, moot.com founder – Christopher Poole, the founders of twitter.com, Secretary of Energy – Steven Chu, John Legend, Jay Leno, philanthropist - Somamly Mam, the President’s speech writer – Jon Favreau, Brad Pitt and many more. Three brand new bangers to take you out for the weekend. I believe this Eminem track, “3 A.M.”, is the next single, not 100% sure as its a leak, but CD quality nonetheless, banging beat by Dr. Dre as well. The other track I came across that surprised me is the Lenny Kravitz track, “Let Love Rule” remixed by Justice. No news on the track at all, but it was just posted this morning on Lenny Kravitz’s website as a free download.

Here’s the latest video from Kanye West and features Kid Cudi as well, for the single “Welcome To Heartbreak”, which comes off of the latest Kanye album, 808s & Heartbreak. The video is directed by Nabil, who’s previously worked with Common, John Legend, Will.I.Am as well as Kanye on his video for “Champion”. When I first saw this video I was trippin’ cus of the effects, I thought it was the download feed, but then I quickly realized this is the same technique that Chairlift used for their video “Evident Utensil”, which was posted last week. Coincidence? Let’s hope so. The technique used is called “Data Moshing” where the images get pixelated.

Last Friday aTek posted the tracklisting and the album artwork for MSTRKRFT’s upcoming second album called Fists of God, which officially drops on March 17th. MSTRKRFT (read as “Master-Kraft”) is an electronic group out of Toronto. Actually this year at the Toronto Virgin Music Fest they replaced SebastiAn, when he missed his flight and they didn’t disappoint. The group came together in 2005 and consists of JFK (Jesse F. Keeler) and Al-P (Alex Puodziukas). The group has remixed over 30 songs of various genres including the latest remix of John Legend’s song “Green Light”.

On Friday I attended Fist Of God, which is the official name for the MSTRKRFT tour as well as their upcoming album, which is expected to drop in January of 2009. The stop I was at had Felix Cartal opening up, but there will be various openers throughout the tour such as DJ A-Trak, DJ Aoki, LA Riots, Congorock, DJ Assault and the aforementioned Felix Cartal. Blueprint Events, which is known as one of Vancouver’s best electronic promoters for a minute now, was hosting the event as well as the after party.

The event took place at Celebrities Night club and was fully packed, in fact this show could have easily taken place at Commodore Ballroom to accommodate more folks, but nonetheless the vibes were good as people were ready to dance their fuckin’ asses off. The duo came on at around 1am and they immediately had the crowd going crazy, as their sound is fairly distinct with that 4/4 beat and heavy heavy synths.

Like usual they played a range of stuff including their own remixes, from the Presets to Dem Franchise Boyz to Cupid to Daft Punk to Usher to Kylie Minogue and throwing in stuff from their first album as well. The set was filled with energy throughout and both MSTRKRFT and the crowd seemed to be feeding off of one another and it was non-stop. The set ended at about 2:30am, but an encore had JFK continue to rock the house til well past 3am. If you left this party not soaked from head to toe in sweat, then you my friend were not partying hard enough. Overall one word can describe this set. EPIC!

New John Legend video for his first single “Green Light” which features Andre 3000 of Outkast. This single is confirmed to be off of the upcoming third studio album Evolver, which is currently set for release on October 28th. The video is directed by Alan Ferguson who’s also worked on videos for Jay-Z, 112, Fallout Boy and Natasha Bedingfield to name a few.  The video starts off slow with John Legend on the keys playing “Ordinary People” at a party where everyone is talking over the music, so he snaps so it appears, but he breaks into this song. RnB songstress Estelle also makes a cameo in the video.
