The Nintendo DSi was officially announced yesterday, but word has it that the portable gaming system won’t be available in North America until “well into calendar year 2009.” While our friends over in Japan get to play with this new toy in about a month or so from now. The DSi will feature a thinner body, external 3.0 mp camera, larger 3.25 inch screens and an SD slot.

I’m only assuming these are called the fish scale Sk8 Hi’s. Whereas reptile skin and various mammal prints may seem exhausted on sneakers, fish scale is untouched territory. And these Sk8 Hi’s are crack. I don’t think these will hit our shores, but at least we know they exist. A big thanks goes to Tony for finding these.

Sunglasses are like lip glosses. They come in a million shapes, colours and styles, and tend to go missing in the bottom of purses. But they’re not as cheap. With that in mind, consider Modo for your next sunglasses purchase. Each pair of Modo sunnies are handmade in Japan, and definitely have a sweet colourful twist on the classic large frame. Made out of acetate. Check out even more pics after the jump.

This little guy is named Mochi, and he’s the mascot for the Museum of Modern Art’s Destination Japan collection. He’s limited edition, and, interestingly, created with the design studio Devilrobots and Kidrobot. Which is pretty cool.

Seriously, who doesn’t want an exact, scaled down replica of a live animal for their decorating? I guess that’s the question the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) is trying to answer… These ATBC-PVC replica animals in unrealistic colours are for sale and are Japan MoMa exclusive products. The collection is meant to highlight lifestyle products from Japan. Cool idea, and frankly, I’m loving the pink elephant. It’s pretty random though.
