It must be nice to be an artist in Sweden or some other socialist utopia where you get a monthly check just to “explore ideas” but does any cool shit ever really come out such a cozy existence? Sometimes the best art comes out of the most oppressive situations.

New York street art magazine Overspray hosts another paint party and art show in Brooklyn. This time, the mag hosts Inoperable gallery and its graffiti/street artists from Vienna, Austria. The events go down at Alphabeta, Brooklyn’s first graffiti supply shop. Overspray is planning to give away hundreds of cans of Plutonium G spray paint. The event has a suggested donation of $5, which comes with with a raffle ticket for the spray paint and a ticket for a drink or hotdog. Event starts at 6 p.m., grilling and painting outside until midnight. Then, the party goes inside for a live projection by Graffiti Research Lab of their ‘Drip Sessions’ project.
