A free download and dope mixtape for all the music-heads. Put together by Vancouver’s Dj’s Flipout and Sean La-La, the Elsewhere mix is an educational head-nodder that’ll school the unaware and remind the inclined.
The night has been host to many guest Dj’s including ?uestlove, Ali Shaheed, Maseo, Cosmo Baker, Bobbito, etc. And as you can tell by the flyer/cover for the night, the variety of music on this mix is the cream of the crop ranging from Marvin Gaye to Kraftwerk to Nas to Alicia Keys.
Top top it all off, it features narration from Ghostface…ill haha.

Alright, so I’ve been holding off on posting a Mixtape Monday session that featured the numerous American Gangster Remixes out there for several reasons. One of them being that I wasn’t really feeling any of them, quite a few if not most were just loops with the acapella playing over the loops. That ain’t my steez. I wanted something where someone actually sat down and composed the shit. My prayers were answered when I came across the Real Live Gangster remix by K-Def. K-Def has been in the game for awhile, as far back as doing production work with Marley Marl for Lord of The Underground. He’s kept a pretty low profile, doing a few songs for Ghostface and one for Diddy recently, but K-Def is the real deal. My favorite tracks are: Roc Boys, I Know, Party Life, Ignorant Shit…fuck it the whole album is crack.
The second one is a concept album and an interesting one at that. Titled Shawn Carter vs. Tony Starks: The American Iron Man. Vancouver’s own Dj Chong Wizard decided to feature Jay-Z’s American Gangster rhymes over Ghostface’s album Ironman and vice versa. Surprisingly this concept really worked out in the end. But don’t just believe me, download both these mixes and have a listen for yourself.
