Nas on The Colbert Report

Posted on 24 July 2008 by DT

Oh my lord, Stephen Colbert is easily one of the funniest dudes around. Here are a couple of clips fromĀ  his episode last night where he discusses the whole Nas protest against Fox News, followed by an interview with Nas and then a live performance of the song “Sly Fox”, which we’ve posted the video for here. The other two clips are available after the jump.

Why Nas is Still My Favorite MC

Posted on 16 July 2008 by AJK

Love or hate him, you can’t deny the fact that Nas never hesitates to speak his mind.

As you all know, Nas’ new album “Untitled” dropped yesterday. As many of you also know, the album originally had a different and far more controversial title - namely one that had masses of people who understood his plan supporting him, while the rest assumed the logic behind the original title was precisely the opposite of what Mr. Nasir Jones actually intended. Ultimately the original album name, Nigger, was dropped.

I swung by Union Square to get a signed copy (I’m still like a teenage fan when it comes to Nas) and the picture above is how Nas himself signed my cd - and pretty much the majority of the other thousand or so people who also purchased @ the signing.

Anyone who still doesn’t understand the intent behind the original album name should have a listen to it and read what is written inside the CD inlet- I’m talkin to you Media (Fox News and friends), Labels (who fronted on the support - Def Jam) and March Organizers (nut-ripping Jesse & Big hair Al).

Please Remove Your Scarf Maam…

Posted on 29 May 2008 by AJK

Seen above is a screen shot from a Dunkin Donuts ad featuring the Food Network’s Rachael Ray repping for the Gaza Strip…or at least some seem to think so. The advertisement for Iced Coffee has been pulled by Dunkin Donuts after a Fox News (biiiig surprise) commentator associated the fashion mishap with terrorism. (Click HERE for the full story at MSNBC)

I don’t know where I stand on this one - Am I amused by America’s ingorance? Or am I happy to see one less person wearing one of these and thinking it looks fresh? LOL.

If this lash out against Middle Eastern fashion influence continues Kanye concerts wont be the same….but maybe the Fox News pundits can start aiming at banning Scott Storch’s trademark arab-esque beats. How much better would this world be without shite like 50’s Candy Shop?

One can only dream.
