ELM @ EyeBar 11.28.08

Posted on 18 November 2008 by Van

As of the 28th of this month, the ELM monthly party will be held at the newly renovated Eyebar. Surely everyone that has gone to an ELM or Ripoff party greatly misses Geisha Lounge on 15th and H. Despite being a destination club, the parking was abundant and the venue was cozy. The new home for Everybody Loves Music has a similar vibe, but with the addition of two levels. And if anyone reading this attended the second to last Hometown Heroes, knows Juan’s set was the best of the evening. So come out if you have a love for house music and know what the ELM parties are all about.

ELM Presents Hometown Heroes 2 09.20.08

Posted on 17 September 2008 by Van

With the success of the inaugural Hometown Heroes party back in mid August, a follow up was much needed. And hopefully a regular monthly for that matter. For those familiar with Baltimore’s legendary Basement Boys, Teddy Douglas will be playing in the main room along with Juan Zapata and Steve Love. Chris Burns, DJ Jackie O and Meistro will be manning the basement. As always, the ELM boys are hooking it up with free cd mixes. So arrive early for that and good parking. Looking forward to seeing you all this Saturday!

Event Reminder: ELM Presents Hometown Heroes This Friday

Posted on 14 August 2008 by Van

Friday, Aug. 15
Rhome and Fritz are still missing Red, the old south-of-Dupont dance club with a come-as-you-are attitude, great vibes and two of the city’s finest soulful house DJs, Sam “The Man” Burns and Doug “95 North” Smith. When one of them was on the decks, the atmosphere in the candlelit room changed: everyone relaxed, everyone got funky and you never knew what kind of journey you’d be taken on. No wonder the regulars compared it to “going to church.” Since Red closed, to be replaced by Fly, it’s been hard to find a venue that could recapture the old Red spirit, a place for laidback, friendly folks who didn’t want to deal with dress codes or bottle service. Well, the Everybody Loves Music promoters think they’ve found the perfect spot — the Trinidad and Tobago Association Hall in Petworth, ordinarily used for reggae and soca nights — and they’re kicking off a series of events with the appropriately titled Hometown Heroes. Sam the Man and 95 North are in the DJ booth for the night, ably supported by Rusty B of the All Good Funk Alliance and Chris Burns of Disco City, so expect to start dancing at 10 p.m. and go until, well, your legs fall off. The cover charge for this 18-and-over is $10, and it includes free Flying Dog beer until midnight.

So the above excerpt from The Washington Post should be evidence enough that this party should not be missed. Especially for DC house heads that miss the now defunct Red. On a side note, the flier pays homage to Red as well. Come early as this event will be packed. And take advantage of the free locally brewed beer and cd giveaways while they last.

Event Reminder: ELM Presents Hometown Heroes 8.15.08

Posted on 12 August 2008 by Van
Due to some recent issues with Geisha Lounge, the mid month ELM party has been pushed back to Friday and migrated to Trinidad and Tobago Association. Even with the sudden changes, there is still quite a bit to look forward to. This of course includes the larger lineup with Scotbot and Houston of The RIPOFF, Chris Burns of Disco City and ELM’s Joe L vs Dimitri Max. This event starts at 10pm and ends at 5am with an early two hour window of free beer. If you’ve attended any ELM events, you know about the mixtape cd give aways. Be quick as they’re usually gone before 11.

ELM @ Geisha Lounge 05.31.08

Posted on 27 May 2008 by Van

Just a reminder that the second Everybody Loves Music held at Geisha Lounge is this Saturday. Another round of soulful house, two boats of sushi for the taking and free mixtapes. This month’s mixtapes feature Rick Preston and an ELM resident dj. And of course if you love our Killahbeez stickers, I should have some on me.

ELM @ Geisha Lounge 05.31.08

Posted on 07 May 2008 by Van

Last month’s gig was phenomenal with capacity reached and some. That being said, ELM was invited back for another monthly event at Geisha Lounge. On the roster are locals Aaron Lee and Big Sexy. The guest headliner of the evening is Rick Preston hailing from the West Coast. The only other time I’ve seen Rick Preston perform was also at an ELM party. His presence is truly an evening not to be missed. Make room the last Saturday of this month for more free sushi, free mixtapes fcft (first come, first take) of course and house music all night long. And if you see me, ask me for a killahbeez sticker.

ELM @ Geisha Lounge 04.26.08

Posted on 23 April 2008 by Van

My friends over at Everybody Loves Music are at it again with another monthly party. For this particular event, Joe L. and friends have selected Geisha Lounge as the venue. This of course allows ELM to offer patrons free sushi from 11 pm until its gone. Another added bonus is early birds will get get a copy of Juan of East Coast Boogiemen’s latest mixtape cd and Tres Manos’ mix. House music to dance to, free sushi to consume, free mixtape cds for the car ride home and no cover until 12am? The decision should be obvious.
