Flashing Lights is on that Rave Juice! This Friday Flashing Lights presents the NYC debut of Nadastrom (Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom)! With a ton of blazing remixes floating around and an EP coming on Dubsided (Switch’s label), our boys are killing it right now. Plus they got Gina Turner coming out from LA to play BIG A$$ HOUSE!
These guys are making HUGE waves in the music world and for good reason. Their remix of Estelle’s “American Boy” and Lil’ Wayne’s “A Millie” is heating up them airwaves.
Public Assembly (aka Galapagos) 70 North 6th Street, Brooklyn, NY FREE ADMISSION!
Quite a few new songs this week and some remixes. This’ll be my last post til I hit Virgin Fest out in Toronto, more on that story itself later. So this week Stones Throw released the Arabian Prince Anthology, with tons of classic jams and ones that I ain’t never heard before. This dude was a real ass innovator back in the day so definitely check out the song below and go cop this album. Next up is Kardi, his release date is this upcoming Tuesday the 9th, I believe, anyways song is a collab with UK’s RnB songstress Estelle. From there we have a mix of songs. The first one being from a Canadian band, from Montreal to be exact, called Duchess Says with their song called “Black Flag”, can Montreal do any wrong on the music scene, like for serious. Following that is another “Paper Planes” remix featuring 50 cent and crew, Montreal’s own Grandtheft (meant to post this awhile ago) remixing Chromeo (also from Montreal) and then there’s Niam from the BK, with a nice track of his own.
New John Legend video for his first single “Green Light” which features Andre 3000 of Outkast. This single is confirmed to be off of the upcoming third studio album Evolver, which is currently set for release on October 28th. The video is directed by Alan Ferguson who’s also worked on videos for Jay-Z, 112, Fallout Boy and Natasha Bedingfield to name a few. The video starts off slow with John Legend on the keys playing “Ordinary People” at a party where everyone is talking over the music, so he snaps so it appears, but he breaks into this song. RnB songstress Estelle also makes a cameo in the video.
RnB songstress, Estelle has just released her latest music video to support the fourth single “Pretty Please”, which features Cee-Lo. The single is off of her latest album Shine, which was released back on April 29th. The video is directed by Zipper and features cameos from actress Taraji P. Henson and actor Jackie Long.
The video tells a story of Estelle as a main character who gets a surprise party from Jackie Long who plays as her boyfriend. At the beginning, it shows as if Jackie has cheated on Estelle. While, Estelle is singing the tune on stage, Jackie is seen to flirting with a young woman. Being upset with Jackie, Estelle withdraws from stage to her make-up room, which has been full of her friends including Jackie who gives her a bouquet of roses as his apology.
Oh man, the Estelle concert was just announced mid-yesterday for Vancouver. The show presented by LiveNation goes on sale today with a presale code. If we find out what that code is we’ll be sure to let you folks know as well. The public sale goes on this Friday, July 25th at 10:00am. If you haven’t heard her latest album Shine, then you’re definitely missing out, with the joints “No Substitute Love”, “Come Over”, “Wait a Minute Just a Touch” and off course “American Boy”, this album is definitely one of the better RnB releases this year. The show is set to take place September 1st at the Commodore Ballroom. Hit up www.livenation.com for more information on the show. For information on other tour dates, hit up her myspace page here.
Some random tunes for all you peoples on this Thursday. The “Shut up, American Boy” track is from The Hood Internet and the MGMT track is from Missing Toof’s site. Support those dudes as they both always put out some good tunes.

Dj STV SLV “Shut up, American Boy” Estelle vs The Ting Tings Remix
MGMT “Time To Pretend” Tronik Youth Shr-Edit Remix
The original track is good. The Dave Nada x Matt Nordstrom = Nadastrom remix of Estelle’s single is even better. Check it. Hopefully, this will get some air play at The RIPOFF.
