WMC has officially started today. Tom B of 202 Digital, has put out a special Miami cd sampler with tracks appropriate for the 5 day long event. You can also catch him playing at the Standard Hotel this Friday. The event itself is called Miambient. The Standard is known for its state of the art spa facilities including an outdoor mud bath facing the waterfront. Last I remember, it was 10 bucks for guests of the hotel. Add in the music, the visual effects and you’ll have 10 hours of bliss. The WMC cd sampler will be available on Beatport sometime in April.

SEE-I is an 8-piece roots reggae band from Washington, DC. While SEE-I is a solid reggae band, there are many other influences that can be heard in the music ranging from blues to rock, latin, soul, funk and brazilian beats. This makes sense because of the variety of bands that the SEE-I band members hail from. 4 of the 8 members are part of Thievery Corporation and other bands represented include All Mighty Senators, Fort Knox Five, Sin Miedo, Thunderball, Nayas, International Velvet, Soul Brazil and others. All of these experiences and influences combine on stage to create a unique sound that can best be described as a reggae jam band. SEE-I delivers a positive vibe that keeps the dancefloor packed and grooving all night with smiles on everyone’s faces.
Tom B always hooks me up with good music. This is a recently released ep by See-I on Bastard Jazz Recordings’ label. I’ve known Tom B for a decade now and he’s not one to be type casted as just a “house” dj. Although, thats what I’ve known him for all these years. The first two tracks on the a side are the efforts of Tom’s production work. Magic Fly from Bastard Jazz Recordings provides the b side remix. Currently, DJ hut carries this ep.
Make the leap to see the album art and reactions from some world class djs/producers like Vadim, Mark Rae, J-Boogie and Nickodemus on The King.
