Alright so I’ve been meaning to post this up for awhile now. Thanks to readers that emailed this in to me. Converse recently did a campaign called “Out Of Your League Girl”, which we posted about here. The campaign showed this beautiful girl giving guys advise on landing a girl that’s out of your league, the ads were cleaver and pretty fuckin’ hilarious.
Well seems like Converse is back at it again with the “Out Of Your League Guy”, this time giving dudes advice on confidence, working out and various other things. My personal favorites is the segment on confidence and working out, pure comedy. Anyways check it out for yourself and get ready to have a good laugh, www.outofyourleagueguy.com.
Today, Converse launched its Fall 2008 campaign. The ads are the fifth installment of the “Get Chucked” campaign and focuses on Converse’s collaboration with designer John Varvatos.
Featuring British model and Gavin Rossdale’s eldest child, Daisy Lowe, the campaign was shot in black and white in now-closed New York eatery, Florent. Shot by photographer Ryan McGinley, the campaign wanted to express the collection’s carefree and playful sensibility.
Converse’s Fall 2008 season will also coincide with the introduction of McGinley’s 60 second, provocative short film, also shot on location at Florent. The film shows startled diners as a model, wearing only underwear, a Converse by John Varvatos tie, shirt and just-launched Chuck Taylor All-Star Bosey Boots, walks around Florent. The video also shows Varvatos himself in a cameo role and is set to music by The Virgins.
The campaign will begin appearing in major consumer fashion magazines starting in August and online starting in September.
I’m really digging the feel of this new campaign. Converse is definitely steppin’ up its game in the fashion arena, no doubt thanks to the collabo with Varvatos. The campaign’s definitely drawing on the fashion world taking inspiration from hipster models and club kids, but I think they pull it off nicely and it fits well with the brand.
Harlem’s finest is having another annual BBQ and sneaker sale going on. I’ve only been fortunate enough to make it out to a t-shirt sale. Walking out with ten shirts and spending only roughly under a bill is a great feeling. Getting fed at the same time while you cop them Bird’s Nest Forces or Vans Syndicates is a whole new level of rewarding your senses.
Here’s an unusual online ad by Converse. The site is called “Outofyourleaguegirl.com“, and features a girl by the name of Jenny giving you advice on how to land other girls that are “out of your league”. The ads are quite clever and humorous, although I have to admit I had to watch the ads like 50 times before I started to even process what she was saying. Judging on the above picture, I don’t think I need to explain myself. Check out www.outofyourleaguegirl.com to watch the ads for yourself.
Coming from a “No Air, no fun” mentality, I’ve never been big on Chucks until recently. First with the (Product)Red and now these, the “Leather Jackets”. To kick off the Century Collection, Converse will drop this finely detailed sneaker sometime in July. Wherever they are sold, expect an instant sell out. I can’t stop staring at them. Its like gazing into the Monolith.
New N.E.R.D. album, Seeing Sounds, officially dropping in stores tomorrow. The first track here is called “Lazer Guns” and word on the street is that this is only on the UK version of the album. The next track is a collab between Converse, N.E.R.D., Santogold and Julian Casablancas. The three artists have created a new song called “My Drive Thru”, which will be distributed exclusively for free on converse.com as of today.
So a few days ago Van posted the Lupe Fiasco Chucks x Product(Red), which can be read here. Well Livestock in Vancouver and Toronto is dropping the first three pairs of the Converse x Product(Red) line. These shoes can be copped in store or over the phone, and probably eventually over the web should they last that long.
If you’re wondering what’s with all the collabs its because Converse has employed 100 artists to create 100 different designs known as “1Hund(Red)”. These are mad limited so don’t sleep and get out there and cop a pair.
Steve Monti designed this “power in numbers” pictured above.
Hit the jump below for pictures of the other two pairs.
