Those that loved French actress Audrey Tautou as the star of quirky and adorable Amelie (we’ll try to forgive and forget her contributions to the disastrous Da Vinci Code), will love her even more now that the petite beauty has taken on the role of Coco Chanel in a biopic about the late fashion designer.
Production for Coco Avant Chanel (or Coco Before Chanel) will begin in Paris on Sept. 15. The screenplay was written by Anne Fontaine and Camille Fontaine along with Christopher Hampton, and it’s based on the Chanel biography, L’Irreguliere (or The Nonconformist) by Edmonde Charles-Roux.
Coco Avant Chanel will reportedly feature dresses from Chanel, and everyone’s favorite sunglasses-wearing Albino, Karl Largerfeld, has already jumped on board to supervise the rec-creation of some of Chanel’s most iconic costumes and accessories.
Scheduled for a release next year, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros.

Erin Magee is the founder and designer behind women’s streetwear line MadeMe. Since the release of its first line in fall 2007, MadeMe has gone from a New York incarnation to a global force, landing in the pages of the New York Post, Nylon and Trace, not to mention, collabos with artists like Alicia Keys. We caught up with the unstoppable missile that is Erin Magee to hit her up with a few questions on her inspirations, the collection and what’s next.
In your biography, you talk about filling a void in women’s streetwear. What do you see as being the void and how does your line fill that void?
Erin Magee: I have always worn “streetwear” and a lot of the time, wore men’s stuff. When I started MadeMe, there were only a few women’s streetwear brands out there. The ones that did exist didn’t make complete collections. They mainly made Ts and hoodies, which was cool, but I wanted to take it to the next level. My whole premise was to provide girls with top to bottom selection. I wanted to make a brand that embodied an entire lifestyle, so out came MadeMe.

To celebrate the opening of their second L.A. store on Robertson Boulevard, Chanel will be releasing four limited-edition nail polish colors in honor of the City of Angels. Said to be inspired by pop-art, sun and surf, the polishes, appropriately called Melrose (pink), Rodeo Drive (purple), L.A. Sunrise (yellow), and L.A. Sunset (orange).
So excited about the delicious-lookin’ purple polish for summer myself! Cop them up at Chanel boutiques starting June 1!

Apparently, the hottest nail colour for spring is, wildly, navy blue.
And not just any navy blue, Chanel’s Blue Satin. The Internet is
buzzing with the fact the shiny shade is sold out everywhere and
nothing compares. Personally, while the shade is hot, I would not have
pegged it as the it colour for spring. But there’s nothing wrong with
surprises. Also popular nail shades for spring are skin tones and
purples, in lovely soft lavendar and lilac. Metallic shades are taking
a break, making room for shiny, bold and solid colours. Personally, I’m
a fan of Sally Hansen’s 10 day no chip line, but I haven’t yet found a
good purple in that one, although there is a solid collection of soft
pastels and neutrals.
