After a 2 month hiatus, the RIPOFF returns to DC in its new home, The Science Club. Though Geisha Lounge was a destination type of venue with generous parking, it will be missed. Set times and who’s playing on which of the available 3 floors hasn’t been announced. However, expect any RIPOFF party to be a guaranteed good time.

Recently, I caught these two commercials off Big Stereo that feature music by Modular Recordings’s The Presets and New Young Pony Club. Both commercials were fun to watch and themed appropriately. “My People” is an intense track that mated well with the Hyundai soccer game commercial. Now all I’m anxiously waiting for is a new car and September 26th to roll around.
Treasure Fingers, known to work with Kill the Noise, will be playing at Geisha Lounge next Wednesday, June 11, 2008. A huge thanks to Scott and Houston for making this happen. Only on their third party and they’re already bringing in a heavy hitter. Below is a preview of what to expect from Treasure Fingers and a link to the photos from the last two RIPOFF events.

Conveniently after having read an interview with Vincent Frank aka FrankMusik on the latest ‘Sup Magazine, I found the below gem, “Done, Done”. “I want to make music that I love… I want to get people excited about music again, ya know?” After you listen to “Done, Done”, you’ll notice the level of effort put into this track equates to a top notch synth pop single. A big thanks to Big Stereo for originally posting the mp3.
If you’re into electro, you should know Ed Banger. If you know Ed Banger, you’re probably familiar with all those blog sites that push forth good electro and indie music. Aside from Missingtoof,BigStereo and Kidz by Colette, Fluokids is another music blog I frequent. Redhotcar and Pharrell of Fluokids will bless DC with a set alongside the Sleaze crew. Plus, I’m always down to support my friends, Matt Nordstrom and James “Simon” Pattee. I’m going to end this post with a quote from my home girl, Dana.
