Here’s the much talked about Beyonce and Lady GaGa collaboration for the song, “Video Phone”, which is on the re-released album, I Am…Sasha Fierce Deluxe Edition, in stores on November 23rd. This track is the extended version and different then the original one that appears on the current album. Video is directed by Hype Willams, so you can expect that highly stylized and glossy feel to the video.

Early last month we decided to compile some of the more popular downloads from the Afternoon Jams segment here on Killahbeez and present that in the form of a mix, that first mix can be downloaded here. Well we had overwhelming response on that first joint that you know we had to come back and do it again. Pitchfork has recently taken on the dubious task of listing the top 500 tracks of the 2000s, something definitely easier said than done. Their list starts off with N.E.R.D’s “Run To The Sun” and works up to Kid Cudi vs Crookers “Day N Nite”, which honestly I thought might’ve ranked higher, but this remix was just a huge personal favorite of mine.

The top 20 I gotta say is pretty dope with the exception of a few tracks, such as R. Kelly’s “Ignition”, that was some hometown love right there no doubt. But Outkast “B.O.B”, I couldn’t agree more. Think of a track that hits you harder and leaves more of resonating feeling…can’t can ya, cus you’re thinking about how dope this track really is and you’re probably looking it right now…here lemme help you.

GOOOOOOOOD LAAAAAAAWD. The new Shakira video is here and while I didn’t initially get the hype, I now do, after watching it on repeat…over and over and over and over and…well you get the idea. This video is directed by some lucky bastard by the name of Jake Nava, also directed Britney Spears “If U Seek Amy” and Beyonce’s “Single Ladies”.

Gentlemen. All I have to say is get ready to enjoy, shower, enjoy, shower and repeat throughout the day. Oh and I forgot to mention, it’s best to watch this on mute.

New video for Beyonce’s newest single “Ego”, this is of course the remix version which features Kanye West. He makes an appearance in the video as well as dropping verses on the single. This remix version will be on Beyonce’s upcoming CD/DVD collection called “Above and Beyonce Video Collection & Dance Mixes”, which was released on Tuesday.

Katie Holmes brought back the trend of cropped pants after she wore Tom’s old jeans last year. As seen in the photo, she wore a pair of baggy jeans that were folded slightly above her ankle with the infamous gladiator heels. Many people thought that her look was strange and unflattering at the time. But as history has proven, fashion fads seem to come back, and a few return back to us sooner than later.

The trend for 2009 featured many gender-defiant collections, which included cropped denim and cuffed trousers. Many designers are channeling the look by offering an updated style of Tom’s old jeans called “boyfriend jeans” in a variety of styles. The different styles of boyfriend jeans aren’t as baggy as Katie’s, as designers have updated the look for shorter lengths, cuffed linings and different denim washes.

Skinny jeans will remain a favorite among many fashionistas but I suspect that the skinnies will be facing competition from the boyfriends’ rise in popularity in celebrity style. My choice of ensemble would consist of boyfriend jeans slightly cuffed above my ankle with high heels and a loose racer back tank top.

Crews from Europe and North America represented at Urban Artistry’s Soul Society Dance Battle this Saturday in Washington DC, and the competition was fierce.

Urban Artistry founder Junious “House” Brickhouse saw an opportunity to bring all genres of dance together for one event to capture the new connection between underground and commercial dance.  “The two communities have a big gap in both understanding and history, although they are now beginning to come together a little bit more,” said House.
“Well,” I said, “you know something incredible is going on when you’ve got a few hundred people from all over the world dancing and vibing and smiling ear to ear and not one drop of alcohol in the place.”

And the vibe was incredible. Crews and dancers from Germany, Finland, Canada, NYC, LA, Philly, Baltimore, and DC warmed up together while the DJ played a mix of house, funk, soul, and hip hop. Outside Scotty Patzschke aka BBoy Scotty76 of Stuttgart Germany (Assassins Crew) created an amazing graffiti mural on a designated wall. “I just love being in an environment where everyone has been brought together because of their love for dance” said BGirl Amy Casil. Judging by the smiles and sweat soaked shirts of every other person in the large ballroom, I think everyone would agree.

The choreography competition began first as judges Jayson Wright (LA- has worked with Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z), Rashaad Pearson (DC), JaQuel Knight (LA- choreographed Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” video and contributed to Britney’s Circus Tour routines), Sophie Richard (Montreal), Junius Brickhouse (DC) and Rizqi Rachmat (DC), and Baronhawk Poitier (DC) were treated to creations from genres ranging from hip hop, popping and locking, waacking, modern and interpretive, house, and breakdancing.

Capital Funk Crew (DC) and YFAMD (VA Beach) brought large group choreography routines while DC’s Enjoy (comprised of Jahaan Amin and Neico Joy) worked as a duo to wow the crowd with their unbelievable synchronization. Philly’s Olive Dance Theatre brought something very different with Jaamal Benjamin’s solo routine which mixed interpretive and modern moves with a bit of breakdancing. Jamie Merwin had actually created the routine 3 years ago with BBoy YNot of the famous Rock Steady Crew. “The routine is usually done in a multimedia theater, with images of man’s struggle against conformity flashing in the background as Jaamal moves on a conveyor belt,” she said. And finally 99 Cents of DC performed their routine made up of hip hop and house moves demonstrated by three male dancers. All the crews were extremely talented, but Capital Funk Crew won the coveted $1000 and multimedia pack prize.

Up next, judges Bboy Ata (Ghost Crew, Finland), Scotty76 and V-San (Germany) determined winners of head to head 5 V 5 battles between 6 competing break crews.

Each group brought their own style of toprocks, downrocks, crowd pleasing freezes and power moves, and theatrical flair for smack talking used in bboy jams. DC’s Sonic Crew emphasized the ability of next generation breakers as 9 year old bboy James Draney threw out headspins and tight freezes all with the confidence of someone three times his age. And the precision and creativity of veteran bboys was demonstrated by DC’s Lionz of Zion. Sonny Tran aka BBoy Ghost said he has been breaking with BBoy Scramblez since 1992 and in 1995 they formed the L of Z Crew. One BGirl represented with the Soul Records crew, and while holding her own in floorwork, reminded the crowd that a little feminine touch on toprocks and downrocks can add a lot more room for individualism and creativity.

In between competitions and judge’s deliberations, audience and crews could peruse the wares of vendors such as Rogue Squirrel, Wildchild, Monsters of Hip Hop, and CypherStyles or just move to the beats which did not stop for 12 straight hours.

The performances of these dancers and crews have inspired to keep attending the dance classes Urban Artistry members teach in the DC area. As 9 year olds and countless amazing BGirls have demonstrated, anybody can be a great dancer if they put forth the same effort and creativity as those involved today.

First off, many apologies for not having a stream associated with this post. NEW YORK — If you thought the Golden Globes was a party, just wait until you see Barack Obama’s inauguration. Next week, Washington will look a lot like a colder version of Hollywood.

Here’s a roundup of who will be where, keeping in mind that in the mad rush to D.C., schedule changes may occur.

THE BIG SHOW

_ On Sunday, tradition will be upheld with a free star-studded concert on the National Mall, starting at 2:30 p.m. Among the many performers: Bruce Springsteen, U2, Beyonce, Usher, Garth Brooks, Stevie Wonder, John Mellencamp, Shakira, Mary J. Blige, Herbie Hancock, Josh Groban, John Legend and James Taylor. Denzel Washington, Jamie Foxx, Martin Luther King III and Queen Latifah will read. Obama will stop by and HBO will broadcast “We Are One: The Obama Inaugural Celebration at the Lincoln Memorial.”

WHERE’S OPRAH

_ Winfrey will host a live episode of “The Oprah Winfrey Show” from the Kennedy Center Opera House on Monday. She’ll also host a second episode on Wednesday. Winfrey has not announced her plans on Inauguration Day.

WHERE’S SPIKE

_ Spike Lee will appear at a daylong symposium at Howard University on Monday to discuss topics including the impact of Obama on Black America. Also there will be Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Henry Louis Gates. Lee will also host an after-party Tuesday evening.

OTHER CONCERTS

_ BET will hold an awards ceremony, the BET Honors, Saturday at the Warner Theater to honor Mary J. Blige, filmmaker Tyler Perry, Ervin “Magic” Johnson and others. Gabrielle Union will host and performers include Queen Latifa, Ne-Yo, Anita Baker and Joss Stone.

_ The Hip-hop Caucus will host a concert Saturday at Ibiza with Common, Mary J. Blige and Nelly.

_ Jessica Alba will host a kickoff event by youth voter initiative Declare Yourself on Sunday dubbed “A New Birth of Citizenship.” Maroon 5 and DJ Samantha Ronson will perform.

_ “Kids’ Inaugural: We Are the Future” will be held Monday night at the Verizon Center and air on the Disney Channel. Performing will be Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers and Bow Wow. Michelle Obama and Jill Biden will host with their families.

_ The “America Feels Kinda Cool Again Inaugural Gala” will feature the Beastie Boys, Sheryl Crow and Citizen Cope on Monday at the 9:30 club.

_ Jay-Z will perform a concert “In Concert on the Eve on Change” at the Warner Theater on Monday.

_ Aretha Franklin will play a free concert at the Kennedy Center with Nuttin’ But Stringz and the Let Freedom Ring Choir on Monday.

_ Manifest Hope will finish a three-day-long, Inauguration-themed art exhibit with a party featuring performances by Santogold, Moby and De La Soul.

THE OFFICIAL BALLS

_ The Neighborhood Ball: ABC will broadcast this ball for Washington residents at the Washington Convention Center. Performing will be Mariah Carey, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Faith Hill and Mary J. Blige.

_ The Youth Ball: This ball is for people aged 18 to 35 to celebrate “the role young Americans can play to serve their communities.” After announcing and then junking a similarly themed ball, MTV will broadcast it. Fall Out Boy is among the acts attending.

_ The other eight official balls are: the Home States Ball, the Commander in Chief Ball, the Biden Home State Ball, the Mid-Atlantic Ball, the Western and Southern Regional Ball, the Midwest Regional Ball, the New England Ball and the Southern Regional Ball.

THE UNOFFICIAL BALLS

_ The “Dreams of My Father” American Scholars Inaugural Ball will take place Sunday at the Four Seasons and feature Alicia Keys, Macy Gray and LL Cool J.

_ The Voto Latino Inaugural Party will on Sunday include Marc Antony, Rosario Dawson, Tony Plana and Wilmer Valderrama.

_ The Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball will take place Monday at the Harman Center and be hosted by Russell Simmons, LL Cool J, T.I. and Young Jeezy

_ The Huffington Post Preinaugural Ball will be held Monday night at the Newseum and feature performances by Sting and will.i.am. Attendees will include Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Denzel Washington, Shakira, Jon Bon Jovi, Halle Berry and Ashton Kutcher.

_ The Green Inaugural Ball will be held Monday at the Portrait Gallery and be hosted by Al Gore.

_ Muhammad Ali will attend the Kentucky Inaugural Ball on Monday at the Marriott Wardman Hotel.

_ The nonprofit arts and entertainment advocacy group Creative Coalition will hold a gala to be headlined by Elvis Costello and Sting at the Harman Center for the Arts on Tuesday. Also attending will be Anne Hathaway, Spike Lee, Tim Robbins, Maggie Gyllenhaal and others.

_ The Purple Ball, Tuesday at the Fairmont Hotel, will be hosted by Lou Gossett Jr. and Il Divo will perform. Expected to attend are: Ashley Judd, Patricia Arquette, John Cusack, Tim Robbins, Ed Harris, Ashley Judd, Josh Lucas, Amy Brenneman, Brendan Fraser, Susan Sarandon and Lisa Marie Presley.

_ There will be two American Music Balls: The Legends Ball, hosted by Dionne Warwick and featuring Chaka Khan and George Clinton; and the Urban Ball _ hosted by Ludacris and featuring Cedric the Entertainer and Monica. Both will be held Tuesday at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel.

_ BET will host an inaugural ball at the Mandarin Oriental hotel Tuesday. The network will broadcast an hour special to coincide with the ball, which will include a performance by Wyclef Jean.

_ The Equality Ball, hosted by the Human Rights Campaign, will be held Tuesday at the Mayflower Hotel with appearances by Cyndi Lauper, Melissa Etheridge and Rufus Wainwright.

_ The Inaugural Peace Ball, Tuesday at the Smithsonian Postal Museum, will be hosted by Harry Belafonte and include Joan Baez, Graham Nash and Jackson Brown.

_ Rihanna will perform at the Recording Industry Association of America Inaugural Ball to benefit Feeding America on Tuesday.

Had it not been for the above video, I would’ve been oblivious to Xbox 360’s Lips.  The recently released karaoke party game comes preset with 40 songs with original music videos from Beyonce to Nirvana.  So no unlocking of songs is required.  One feature I like a lot is the ability to plug in your iPod or Zune and sing along to your playlist in the freestyle mode.  Included with the game are two motion-sensing microphones.  This is where the fun begins.  Depending on how you move the mic, it can take on the role of various instruments.  This of course enables your centerstage shy friends to join in on the fun.  Overall, this should be a hot product for holiday 2008.

Another new video from Beyoncé, this one for the single “Single Ladies”, which is also off of her upcoming album I Am…, which features production work from The Neptunes, Timbaland, Kanye West as well as Beyoncé herself. This video like the previous video “If I Were A Boy”, was also directed by Jake Nava. Quite honestly I didn’t even hear the song, I was too busy watching her jirate around then I got distracted by the cyborg like left hand.

Beyoncé recently released her first music video for “If I Were A Boy”, which is the first single off of the upcoming third album titled I Am…, which is expected to drop on November 18th.

“It’s kind of like ‘Freaky Friday’,” Beyonce tells Billboard of the concept behind the “If I Were a Boy” clip, where she plays a police officer. “In the beginning of the video, my husband makes me breakfast and he’s excited about it, and I kind of don’t have time to eat. As a police officer, I have a male partner and the video goes through our days. My husband’s at work and has attractive girls flirting with him but he declines their advances. I have a guy flirting with me, and I flirt back.”

The video was directed by Jake Nava, whom previously directed her video “Crazy in Love”.

So you want to get an audience with Clinton Sparks. Yeah? Well, get in line.

See, getting an audience with Clinton Sparks can take time, something the guy doesn’t have in abundance. To find him, you’ve got to thief moments when he’s not hosting radio. Or producing mixtapes. Or breaking down new music on TV. Or writing tunes for the likes of Ludacris and Beyonce. You know…find his downtime. But what you and I consider downtime really isn’t downtime in Clinton Spark’s world. He always has something on the go.

“I have so much passion for everything music related whether it’s the business or putting shows together, writing, producing, DJing parties, dancing, performing,” Sparks said in an interview. “I always have much bigger plans than it may appear and am strategically setting things up with other plans in mind. It’s very calculated.”

This goes a long way in explaining how the self-proclaimed “Martha Stewart of hip hop” went from Boston radio stunt guy to one of the hottest names in the industry. There’s his skill on the wheels – both Rolling Stone and USA Today named him one of the world’s top 10 DJs. Production credits include Billboard-charted tracks for The Game and Akon. His nationally syndicated show is one of the biggest stars on Sirius Radio. Oh, he’s gotten into television as well, hosting The Daily 10 as their resident music expert.

If Sparks was a decathlete, he’d be the guy pushing to do an 11th event. This never-stop mentality has skyrocketed Sparks into the mainstream – his ability to mesh a love of hip-hop with pop culture has won him favor with heads and celebs alike. Nowhere is that more evident than with Smashtime Radio.

With Smashtime, Sparks brings this I’m-gonna-do-everything-and-anything mentality to the airwaves, playing a plethora of music while rotating guests through his on-air party.

“Smashtime stemmed from the last hour of my show on Hot 97.7 in Boston where I would just go in heavy because it was the hour when everyone was leaving the club. Now, its syndicated in over 25 markets worldwide,” Sparks explains. “I have also turned Smashtime into the hottest party in Las Vegas. I play everything from Hip-Hop to Rock, Dance, pop, old school, 80’s. We also have surprise guests every week from Ne-Yo to Akon, Carmen Electra to the cast from the Hills.”

Off the airwaves, Sparks has been holding it down as one of the most sought-after producers in the game. Most recently, he produced the title track for Bun B’s “II Trill” that debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. And while he’s already worked with some incredibly tight artists, Sparks wants to keep pushing the envelope into different genres.

“A lot of people will be very surprised with what I plan to do next year with music, but I will never abandon Hip Hop,” he explained when asked what artists he’d like to work with. “Jay-Z would be one. Weezer and Teddy Riley are some people too. But there are so many I’d like to work with in all different genres of music. But after I complete my Clinton Sparks [the artist] album, people will really get to know what I’m about.”

For the most part, Sparks is all about the hustle. While his forays into pop and rock music have expanded his audience globally, his desire to be the hardest working man in hip-hop maintains his cred with heads (check the rhyme!) Plus, he knows his roots. While Sparks realizes he’s quickly becoming the voice of hip hop radio for the 2K generation, he also knows none of it would’ve been possible without pioneers like Stretch & Bobbito, Lady B, Red Alert and Funkmaster Flex.

“I love that after all my work into creating and identifying Smashtime that people are recognizing it more and downloading and podcasting it,” Sparks said. “As far as the DJs mentioned, I view them as trendsetters and am very grateful for all of them for helping to open doors for the radio DJ.”

With these doors now kicked wide open, we gotta ask – what does the future of Clinton Sparks hold? The guy is seemingly capable of anything, so where could it lead? To gain some insight, I played corporate pitchman and tossed a few show ideas his way. Here’s what Sparks had to say:

Mike Halford: I might be biting here, but what about a VH1 show called “Be My sPArks?” It’s a 10-person competition to become the personal assistant to the busiest man in the industry.

Clinton Sparks: Well Diddy is already doing that and I strive to be original. So I’d say “Guys do you know that show already exists? Who’s in charge here?”

MH: A little more indie and for the web…how about the YouTube: Smashtime Mixtape Wars. You host webisodes, judging the best user-submitted music/video mashups from the wide world of sports.

CS: Well if it’s all videos people submit then will I be see on screen as the host or just narrate? That would be the first question. Then, how much would I get paid and how well will they promote it. All of that would play into my decision.

MH: How about a Food Network show called “In Tha Kitchen with Clinton?” You collaborate with your favorite artists to make your favorite dishes and lay down tracks.

CS: That’s a decent idea if the kitchen was a metaphor for studio and we actually cooked up beats live in front of the audience, then had an 800-number to auction off the beats that were just created live in front of your eyes…have like big producers from hip hop, country, rock, etc. As you can see, when someone puts in idea in front of me I have 10 more to add.

That last line basically sums up Sparks in a nutshell. Always thinking, always pushing the boundaries. So if (or when) the Martha Stewart of hip-hop and Martha Stewart end up collaborating on some mac n’ cheese, remember, the idea started here first. Big things that start from the littlest ideas – now there’s something to get familiar with.

Here’s the first video from Donnie Klang off of Bad Boy called “Take You There”.The song is off of his upcoming debut album Just a Rolling Stone, which is set to hit stores on September 2nd. The video is directed by Ray Kay and has done videos for artists such as Beyoncé, Sean Kingston, Ghostface Killah and a long list of other clients. I thought they should’ve dropped the song “Dr. Love” as the first single, as the melody and beat on that is crazy. Let us know what you think.

First video from Keri Hilson off of her upcoming album In A Perfect World…, which is set to come out on September 23rd. This video is for the single “Energy” and is directed by renowned director Melina, who has done videos for Beyonce, Ne-Yo, Kylie Minogue and Snoop Dogg to name a few.

The premise of the video has Keri playing a female boxer that’s going through a relationship with her trainer and things don’t work out so well, but seriously who cares, cus maaaaaaaan she looks hot! Have a look for yourself.

His production history spans several music genres and has worked with artists such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Cassie, JoJo, Nina Sky, Danity Kane, Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Donell Jones, Katharine McPhee, New Edition, Cheri Dennis and many more.
