Patterns like plaid, tweed herringbone and houndstooth give so much personality to clothing.  So upon seeing Bodega’s glen check tweed 59Fifty, its a no brainer that I need this fitted immediately.  The pattern is complemented with a two tone ‘B’ logo in blue and white.  Finally,  more embroidery can be seen on the back in the form of Bodega’s logo in blue.  For those interested, Bodega’s Glen Check Tweed fitted is available both online and in store now.

Here’s a fitted that combines two of my favorite things, plaid and Kidrobot’s Dunny silhouette.  Partially playful, this 59fifty features an all over Kidrobot print on the underbill and a large embroidery of a Dunny.  The inside of the embroidery is filled in with a plaid texture with colors seen throughout the entire cap.  The cap is available now at all Kidrobot locations and online.

Tonal fitteds have always been a good look.  Take for example the “Black Pack” from Mishka.  Coming from Fitted Hawaii, is a tonal black fitted with raised embroidery of Hawaii’s flag.  To further raise the bar, the cap itself is constructed of straw weave, which is more common in fedoras.  The inside is satin lined with Hawaii’s seal and a raised crest can be seen on the backside of the fitted.  Along with the release of this fitted is also a tshirt featuring the slogan, “Hawaii is the new black.”  Look out for this tshirt and fitted pack to drop on Saturday October 24th in store and online.

It was only two Fridays ago that the High Point x Dearly Departed New Era became available.  Due to its popularity, the fitted sold out with the quickness.  Recently, Dearly Departed has teamed up with Quintin and Co. t0 produce a limited run of wool snapbacks.  Much like the High Point x Dearly Deaprted 59Fifty, I am feeling the oversized embroidery and simplicity of this snapback.   Not much info was given on High Point’s blog, but I would imagine another instant sell out.

Recently made available is REBEL8’s ‘Oilskin‘ New Era fitted.  It may be safe to say that REBEL8 is the first to collaborate with New Era on a waterproof oilskin fitted.  Available in grey or hunter green, this fitted includes REBEL8’s tonal insignia on the front and a gold logo and crest on the back.  I think the flannel lining adds another layer of sophistication.  This fitted can be now be copped on REBEL8’s online shop.

The latest sneaker and streetwear boutique to receive their own New Era fitted is High Point based out in Scottsdale, Arizona.  But what’s more unique about this release is High Point’s collaboration with an upcoming brand, Dearly Departed.  What I love about the merger on this fitted is how effortlessly the “D” logo fits in with High Point’s logo.  In terms of colorway, you can’t go wrong with white, silver and gold on a black fitted.  The High Point x Dearly Departed 59Fifty is now available at High Point in a limited run.  And I’m certain they’ll accept phone orders.

Lately, I’ve been really feeling crocodile anything.  After seeing a pair of black croc Vans Chukka, the croc patterned Applebum 59Fifty and even the Meat Guy’s crocodile claws for bbq’ing, I feel like its a texture missing in my life.  The void ends here.  I am or rather will find these Nike Terminator “un-HTM”.  The retro hi top may feature a simple one-two colorway of black and white.  But the texture makes up for what would just be a simple statement.  I absolutely love the metal grommets that hold up the round laces common in current day Nike Running sneakers.   Hopefully, we’ll be seeing these in the States soon, as they are only available at NOS currently.

On a different note, if I can secure these, I’ll be on a two-peat with the Nike “un-” series.

Here’s a sneak preview to an upcoming dope fitted by Applebum.  We’ve seen everything from soild colored logo, all over sneaker boxes to crocodile print.  The latest textile from Applebum is a myriad of high rise windows finished off with a white chunky “AB” embroidery.  The “Babylon Camo” fitted is further evidence that Applebum truly has the golden touch when it collaborating with New Era.  Expect this to sell out upon release around December.

Ever since Commonwealth had their Play Cloths debut party, Ive been lightly following the brand.  And I’ve also been kicking myself for sleeping on their products.  The mascot, “Jack” goes so well with tees, technical hoodies and all products in between.  Recently, Atlanta Based lifestyle boutique, Wish, linked up with Play Cloths for a collaborative 59Fifty.  Available in two colorways, the fitted shares elements of both brands to include a Wish paper themed underbill, “Jack” on the front, Wish’s “S” logo and both company logos on the back.  The fitted will only be available in-store on September 25th.  You can also count on Pusha-T and Malice popping in for the special occassion.

We’ve seen Applebum’s ‘Allstar’ sneaker boxes fitted, then a Jordan sneaker boxes fitted and now an animal print.  The design team over at Applebum can likely do no wrong.  The latest is a crocodile patterned fitted cap with the usual suspects embroidered on the front, side and back.  All tonal of course.  For those that own the Steve Olson Sk8-Hi’s or V79 lows may wanna consider adding this 59Fifty to their collection.  Currently, the crocodile themed fitted is available at Amazingstore.

For this week’s Fitted Fridays, we came across an oversized graf embroidery 59Fifty by TRUE SF.  When it comes to New Era fitteds, I usually have a soft spot for an all over pattern or some sorta of textural cap.  But this simple raised logo embroidery fitted brings me back down memory lanes when all I wore in the early 90’s was simple large scaled logo tees i.e. Champion and Paul Marciano’s Guess.  Considering this is a teaser image, we’re not sure if there will be more colorways and a set drop date.  But of course, we’ll keep you posted.

Here is the first release between Benny Gold’s collaboration with Rebel8.  I’ve passed up on all previous teaser shots because I wanted to see the final product(s) as a whole.  The entire collection comprises of 3 shirts and a new era fitted in two colorways.  The first two tees will be available from each respected brand.  And the 3rd t-shirt will drop as a Fall 09 item from both.  From my perspective, Benny’s shirt can be a hit or miss with the general audience.  For those that recognize the usual Benny Gold slogans and font catalog styling will definitely appreciate this shirt.  I’m personally a big fan of the types that Benny chooses for his products, so this is a hit with me.  To find out when the either shirt drops, follow both Rebel8 and Benny Gold’s twitter.

Two of my favorites, Mad Decent Records and Mishka NYC finally have teamed up for an official New Era fitted.  The Mad Decent logo takes center stage as an oversized embosssed logo with matching hue New Era flag and Mishka’s logo on the backside.  Two colorways are available to include a Knicks inspired blue/orange and an all black cap with multi colored logos.  In my honest opinion, you can’t go wrong with either colorway.  First off the black is a safer bet that still offers a lot of flavor.  As for the blue and orange colorway, cop the fitted now and wait anxiously for the Nike Auto Force 180 ‘NYC’ edition this winter.  You won’t regret it.  The Mishka x Mad Decent collabor 59Fifty is now available at Mishka.

Here’s a quick look at whats in store from UNDEFEATED this coming Fall 2009.  Plenty of new short sleeve and long sleeve tees, more new era releases, hoodies and sweatshirts.  Normally, I wouldn’t boast about big logo sweatshirts.  However, this whole collection reminded me of me in my teens when all I wore was oversized and raised embroidered “Champion” crewneck sweaters.  My personal favorite pieces from the Fall 2009 collection would have to be the collegiate cardigan-esque crewneck and oversized logo crewneck.  Nows too soon to speak about the sneakers, but I have a feeling they’ll be highly sought after as well.

For this week’s Fitted Fridays entry, I found myself gazing at the above teaser image trying to make sense of things.  Coming from Secret Society based in Queens, this is their second collaboration with New Era.  Much like their coveted “Trust” fitted, the follow up has raised embroidery on the front.  But instead of going strictly tonal, this time the mystery logo is layered with shades of royal purple, green and black over a wool cap.  Other than the insignia hit that will most likely be seen on the back, this 59Fifty is a complete mystery and I love it.  I’m just curious as to whether this is the only colorway combination or not.

GI Joe day is here finally and New Era blesses us with several designs from the beloved 80’s cartoon turned live action movie.  Some of us are anticipating this movie and I’m sure there’s a large ratio of folks with a chip on their shoulders that have zero faith in the live action adaptation.  Regardless, its good to see New Era produced a bangin’ Cobra insignia 59Fifty cap.  I’m also feeling the two mural ones.  All four caps are available at the New Era flagship store in New York and online.

For this week’s Fitted Fridays, I’d like to continue the DMV love and shed the spotlight on Palace5ive’s lastest 59Fifty.  Two colorways are available taking inspiration from the Washington Nationals jerseys repping both home and away team jerseys.  I’m not a big baseball fanatic, but I can appreciate the deviation from the teal and black colorway that Palace5ive colorway is normally associated with.  Stop by P5 if you’re in the U Street corridor and see for yourself.

With summer still around, Commonwealth recently took a risk by dropped this herringbone fitted well ahead of schedule.  I must say its revived my love for the boutique’s line of 59Fiftys.  With that said, who still has the very first C’mon fitted with raise white polka dots and an orange base?  The herringbone along with felt “C” logo go hand in hand so effortlessly.  More embroidery can be seen in the usual spots.  A white “Cmon” embroidery can be seen on the back and the New Era flag is stationed it in it’s usual post.  They are currently available in gray and brown at both locales and online

Nixon recently released a Flex Fit ball cap with Robert Indiana’s Love Statue serving as inspiration.  Four colorways including brown, black, red and charcoal are readily available at Nixon’s online shop.   The tonal pattern is really appealing with this fitted.  What even raises the bar even more is a combination of the raised Nixon insignia over the flat text embroidery.  Unlike the traditional 59Fifty, sizes range from a small/medium to large/xlarge only.

After talking about customizing shoes, I found this contest to be quite appropriate.  Plan B Branding is inviting anyone to take a stab at designing their own fitted.  The winner will receive a Casper Ghosts official NEW ERA 59Fifty home cap.  Contestants are provided with a blank template to work with on Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.  Hand drawn or colored entries will be accepted so long as they’re scanned and emailed to theclinkroom@planbbranding.com.  The contest is open to anyone across the globe and the winner will be picked on July 14th.
