We’ve seen the metrocard mural of Astro Boy.  Now here is a teaser trailer that will make the God of Manga extremely proud.  Osamu Tezuka’s Astro Boy will be hitting the silver screen around Fall 2009.  The Hollywood pixar-esque feature film also stars a heavy lineup including Kristen Bell, Nicholas Cage, Eugene Levy and Donald Sutherland to name a few names.  Personally, right next to Hayao Miyazaki, I’m a huge fan of Osamu Tezuka’s manga and anime.  I love how the works of both artists are capable of capturing emotion and raise awareness of our surroundings.

In pretty much a “holymuthaphukkin’shit” moment, I found out that a writer, Nick Schenk, I use to work with on the Bodog Fight program had written a screenplay and Clint Eastwood had bought it and made the film. Now both the film and screenplay are being talked about as potential Oscar nominations. Pretty crazy, check out the trialer above and have a read through the synopsis.

Clint Eastwood stars in the drama Gran Torino, marking his first film role since his Oscar-winning Million Dollar Baby. Here’s a video that came way from my buddy Gord, and yes this is what we do at work, we just send links back and forth. Here’s a new ad from Nike that stars Nicole Scherzinger from the Pussycat Dolls and LeBron James from the Cleveland Cavs. LeBron dons a costume and plays the part of “Business LeBron”, there’s a whole set of characters that have been seen in numerous commercials, Wise LeBron, Kid LeBron, LeBron James as himself and the aforementioned Business LeBron. The commercial is mad cheesy and I definitely think that they’re trying to be cheesy and funny, very much making the sneaker experience relateable to a sexual experience. I mean we all know Nicole Scherzinger is fine, there’s no denying that, but people that know me know that I joke alot about foot fetishes, well I have to say, she’s got some FINE ASS FEETS, hammer toes need not apply. Thank you, come again.

Favorite parts:

• When he gives her the red laces, it’s like he just gave her a sex toy or something. Notice the laces are in the shape of the number 6, this is the 6th shoe in the series.
• When the shot cuts to the fish aka Sir Charles in the tank staring at the action.
• “Oh girl, don’t pump fake me now”.

Although I’ve seen Pi, Requiem for a Dream, I still believe The Fountain is Darren Aronofsky’s masterpiece.  The Wrestler is Aronofsky’s latest film with Mickey Rourke taking the helm as Randy “The Ram” Robinson, an aged wrestler that lives for the thrill of his profession despite his aging body.  After watching the trailer, I thought Mickey Rourke really captured the role of seasoned wrestler who can’t give up the game, m.i.a. father/bff to Evan Rachel Wood’s character and comfort buddy to Marisa Tomei’s role.  The trailer shows no sign of visual effects like that of The Fountain.  Instead Aronofsky lets Rourke close the deal on this movie.  And with Clint Mansell behind the soundtrack, this should be a winner.

Riding off of ateks’ previous post, here’s the Kanye West American Music Awards speech that everybody has been telling me to check out. The “I want to be Elivs” speech, which actually didn’t turn out corny but was very well put. My only question on the whole video is, what the fuck is Nickleback doing presenting the award???

This movie officially dropped in theatres on November 12th, but I actually didn’t hear about it until this past weekend.

The film has been critically acclaimed and a ton of peoples I know have been raving about it. It recently won the “People’s Choice Award” at the Toronto International Film Festival. The director for this picture is Danny Boyle, who’s known for his films The Beach and Trainspotting, amongst others.

Many high end European brands have lowered the price of their merchandise in the US retail market, due to value of the $1.  In the article, “Versace, Christian Louboutin, Chanel, and More Slash Prices in U.S“, NY Mag reports that some of our favorite brands “are cutting prices on goods in the U.S. by 8 to 10 percent”.

After reading nymag, I began to indulge in online retail therapy browsing.  Despite many brands decreasing prices in the US, I was sad to discover that Chanel has not.  As of November 1st, the price of Chanel handbags has increased!  There goes my hopes and dreams of having my very own 2.55 bag!

Does that make any sense?  With the fall of the retail market, why has Chanel increased the price of handbags?

After browsing from site to site, I found a website that carries authentic designer bags, as well as clothing from Gossip Girl’s set.  Bluefly recently launched the Gossip Girl website at the end of October.  Fans of the show can shop the wardrobe from each character on the hit show.  How chic!

Caught this video over on MySpace when I was checking my account. No real value in the video besides hearing her sexy accent and simply just staring at her. Here’s a description of the video:

I actually meant to post this up early last week, but have been busy. Finally though the complete set is being released on DVD, I know a few people were waiting for this, including yours truly. Ladies, this is most definitely a must-cop for that man in your life for the upcoming Christmas season.This 33-disc set includes all of the 86 episodes and of course tons of special features such as interviews, commentary, a 3-disc soundtrack and a 56-page collector’s album to name some of the more significant things included. Retailing at $255 in the US or about $299 in Canada.

Came across this trailer via Discobelle. For those that aren’t aware, Justice is preparing to release a CD + DVD package. The CD will be a live disc, while the DVD is a documentary that was filmed during an 18 month tour for the LP, †. The dude freestylin’ in the opening bits is off the charts, very ill, better then at least 50% of the rappers out there, guaranteed. Besides the freestyler the other reason to watch this trailer is cus of the boobies, oh I guess I should say this may be NSFW. I’ve yet been to a Justice concert as I missed them the last few times they rolled through Vancouver. Anyways this is a must cop for any fan out there.

So as Justice were about to tour the USA for the second time, multi-award winning directors and intimate friends of the band, Romain Gavras (“Stress” director) and So-Me (“D.A.N.C.E.”, “DVNO”) taped every second of that 3 week tour that looks like it lasted 3 years. This documentary ain’t about how cool Justice’s live show is (the bonus CD is here for that), but is all about the extraordinary things that can happen when a bunch of frogs gets dropped in dreamy America.

This live CD + DVD release will include recordings of Justice’s signature headbanging live sets along with show footage and various hijinks captured as the band toured the US in March 2008. Screenings of the film will be held in each city around the DJ sets late October.

Here’s a great find via Brown Kid over at ALBOTAS. Like him when I first saw this I thought “this is an insane idea for a movie, but it’s sooooo awesome”. Come to realize that this is actually a Bell South Yellow Pages commercial. Oh and the stunt coordination was done by James Lew with his Hong Kong Wire Action Team, not sure who he is, well you’ll recognize once you see his picture below.

Okay so I know this video is a bit old as it came out early October. It doesn’t really fit with the stuff we generally write about here, but I thought this was an eye opener and a good educational piece on how it all happened. Killahbeez’s own AJK sent this to me, oh I don’t know a few weeks or so ago, but I never really had time to watch it, but yo, give me credit cus I hung on to the link. Anyways check out this CBS segment on the whole financial debacle it’s jaw dropping.

Last week we showed you the new Guitar Hero commercial that featured Kobe Bryant, Tony Hawk, Alex Rodriguez and Michael Phelps and by now you may have already seen the version with Heidi Klum. Well that appears to be the TV friendly version, as the version we have here is the directors’ cut and features Heidi Klum dancing in her lingerie, quite sexy. May not be safe for work, but there’s no nudity.

This here has got to be the craziest pumpkin carving I’ve seen in a minute. It’s the likeness of the Predator and the details are insane. As Brownkid over at ALBOTAS said “I never noticed how much the Predator’s mouth looks like a vagina.”

Instead of airing music videos, MTV currently plays re-runs of “RW/RR Challenge: The Island” and “Paris Hilton’s New BFF“.  With the launch of MTV Music, 16,000 archived videos will now be offered to music fanatics.  Does this mean that MTV will begin to run more reality shows?  I hope not. 

I suspect that this may be another option for YouTube internet users to obtain access to music videos via the world wide web.  If I were MTV, I would compete with YouTube as well, considering that the music channel was the first kid to play music videos on television.  YouTube has been quite a hit with internet users, from co-hosting live Presidential Debates with CNN to battling piracy issues with MTV’s parent company, Viacom.

MTV has certainly come along way from classics like “Thriller” and “Like A Virgin“.  Consequently, as time changes, technology and demographic lifestyles change as well.  The internet is an essential part of our everyday lives.  Desperate times call for desperate actions, as we are now given an alternative option to view music videos from MTV.  Yes, MTV is (finally) playing music videos!

Anyone remember the Anheuser-Busch “Wassup” commercial?  Well here is the 2008 remake.  The original cast is intact with each facing their own predicaments tied to our current economic state.  Even with the depressing content, the boys still pulled off a clip funny enough to watch over and over again.

BA-DING-DING-DING-WHOA! Here’s another hilarious SNL Digital Short featuring Andy Samberg as a Rastafarian doing reggae. Within the first 30 seconds I was laughing so hard I had tears. Some of the stuff he’s saying can be deemed controversial such as, “Fireball a batty boy”, but man how can you even take this seriously, he does such a great job. One of my favorite parts is when he walks by a group of Rastafarians and starts to mumble and is all quiet and shit while the Rastafarians are looking at him like he’s a farce.

Came across this commercial featuring some of the top atheltes of our time: Alex Rodriguez, Tony Hawk, Michael Phelps and Kobe Bryant. The four of them channel in the famous scene from the movie Risky Business where Tom Cruise slides across the floor dancing and singing in a button up, ginch and socks. This commercial is for Guitar Hero Wold Tour, which is the first Guitar Hero series to feature a drum set and microphone. The commercial is directed by Brett Ratner.
