Of all the Black Friday sales coming up, I decided to make mention to SURU first.  My pick of course is as methodical as Dwayne from Whats Happening!! picking football teams based off of how fancy the helmet looks.  I simply liked how the flier looks.  That and I gotta give Neran some kinda love for being a member of the Killahbeez fam.  But realistically speaking, 50% is a big deal, so take advantage of the sale if you’re nearby SURU.

I can honestly say I’ve never looked at my little vinyl buddies and wondered about their anatomy.  The above art print from Jason Freeny satisfies any bit of curiosity, if there was any.  My only qualm is why “Visible Vinyl” is only a giclee print and not a skin for ipods, laptops and phones as well.  If Jason Freeny’s work interests you, check out his bio page on Gelaskins.  You’ll see his curiosity has lead to skeletal frame work for gummi bears and Jeff Koon’s “Balloon Dog” as well as the see through Dunny.

I can’t stress enough how much I love papercraft.  Earlier on, I was mentioning to my friend, Hyun about next level vinyl toys and papercraft being the new form of urban art.  Watch the above video which display a series of papercraft cogs perfectly aligned to form a heart.  Shortly into the clip, witness the cogs in action as the crank is turned.  Simply amazing.

The Red Hand Gang has left a trail of destruction across the city’s rooftops… and the city guard’s air division is out in force hunting for them. But this still doesn’t explain the Golden Claw’s involvement. Something is afoot and Raku knows it. This Friday at Noon, the next print in the Gold Life series, Moonrise Rooftops. Each is printed on thick 100% cotton duck canvas (409gsm), 12″x24″ (plus 1″ border on all sides), gold embossed, numbered and signed. Limited edition of 80 prints, $80 each.

Also available at Huck’s store this Friday is the artist proof “Grandfather” Golden Ticket Dunny.  Given that the demand will be greater than supply, its a good time now to decide which you really wanna cop this Friday.  Sadly, I’ve had zero success with ordering the AP dunnys.

Two new items from Huck Gee come out this Friday.  First off, we have the latest “Gold Life” print entitled, “Sunset Rooftops”.  Next, are the oh so hard to obtain 10 off 8″ Red Hand Gang Dunnys.  The print is 12″ x 24″ in size and like all previous Huck prints, comes with gold embossing and printed on high quality duck canvas.  In short, money well spent.  Anyone that knows Huck, knows that his work is sought after because of detailing and accessories.  I’m starting to wonder if he’s the only artist that incorporates cloth into his figures.  Anyways, both print and figures come out this Friday at noon PST.  The prints go for $80 and are limited to 80 pieces.  There is a limit of one figure per customer and each figure goes for $650.  On a side note, I wonder why the Red hand Gang Dunnys sport getas?  Shouldn’t they be wearing ninja slip ons?  No hate Huck, just curious.

I must be only person that doesn’t find the Kaws Companion figure appealing.  Up until I saw Motorbot’s custom that is.  Recently he was commissioned to do a Destro themed Companion figure for a private collector and it looks amazing.  Make the leap to see more images of this custom including a before and after shot.

2008 is definitely a good year for street artist, PaperMonster.  It’s been a bit since I’ve seen his work during J. Coleman’s solo show at Art Whino.  Ever since, he’s been in perpetual motion with shows, collabos with ADM Skateboards, Tagur sneakers and pushing his clothing brand, Vengeance Clothing.  For the upcoming month of October, Metropolis Gallery in Lancaster will be hosting the opening reception to PaperMonster’s solo show, “Feast” from 6 to 10pm.  The exhibit will last through October 30th.  So if you happen to be nearby Lancaster, PA, make sure to stop by Metropolis.

Once again its been a hot minute since I’ve visited the Kidrobot message board for phenomenal customs.  The above 8″ Dunny is a commission made for a fellow board member who fell in love with Okedoki’s 20″ rendition.  Every one of Tam’s succeeding pieces always seem to progress in immaculate detailing.  I especially love the artichoke-esque wings.  Make the leap for a couple of more images to include the original 20″ custom.

Rotofugi collaborated with Acne Film to produce this cool video where roles are reversed.  Imagine a world where various urban vinyl figures collects people as a hobby.  Watch as Mori Chack’s Gloomy Bear speaks about his collection in a British accent.  Somehow I’d imagine he would have a child’s voice instead.  Anyways, enjoy the clip. On a side note, if you’ve never made a purchase from Rotofugi in your life, give it a try.  Whitney and Kirby always comes through with some extra tlc on the packaging of orders.

Toy2R has recently collaborated with Toy2R to produce two figures for Target employees.  Of the two, I’m certain most heads would prefer the Bullseye mascot Qee.  Even with an employee only distribution, I’m sure some will hit eBay for us non-Target employees.  Head over to the backside to see the other design.

I really need to ask Danny Roldan how much time he spends on his customs.  The detailing is always so precise.  What I love most about this munny submission is the underlying faint splash of pink on the back side.  It can be missed easily as the multitude of patterns take center stage.  But once spotted, one can only grin and think how brilliant the placement is.

On an interesting side note. When developing this Dunny we really wanted it to be scratch & sniff and smell like the old He-Man toy Skunkor. But Kid Robot was afraid the chemicals used in creating the scratch and sniff scent might leak from our Dunny contaminate the entire Dunny Collection! So the scratch & sniff concept was sadly scratched.

I’m all for getting exactly what I want.  Blind box pulls are fun, but sometimes you don’t wanna sift through a bunch just to end up with duplicates.  Hurry if you want in on these 25 available Skunk Ape Dunnys from Mishka.  Truthfully, what reeled me in was the Bear Mop autograph.  Now if only I can get my hands on the Kathie Olivas, Mad Barbarians and Junk Mizuno Dunnys without buying a bunch of blind boxes.

To commemorate Lego’s Miniman’s 30th anniversary, Go Miniman Go has teamed up with Gizmodo to create the Go Miniman Go Challenge. Three of Lego’s directors have brought forth their best representation of what Lego’s Miniman is all about. The challenge is open to the public for anyone to create their own Miniman video clip. Go Miniman Go has provided a link for anyone to download and create their own posters and movies. Not much has piqued my interest over at Kidrobot over the past few months.  That is up until the board announced the above collection.  This Simpsons x Kidrobot collabo will have a total of 24 characters along with 3 chases.  This should be a great fix for Simpsons and vinyl fans alike this coming August 21st.  And of course, the big question popping inside all vinyl toy fans is which will be the chase figure.  On a different note, I’m wondering if those are Dunny arms…

T’was the night before iPhone and all through the streets, not a cell phone was ringing, they were now obsolete.

After my first post about iPhone, I was excited to find out how I could get my grubby paws on one.
