Artist, Ian Millard recently teamed up with Japan’s Noise King to produce a print called ‘LV Cans‘.  Instantly folks should recognize the Vuitton monograms and Whole Food’s 365 Organic line of food products.  But some of us may correlate this with another famous pop art soup can piece.  ‘LV Cans‘ was produced using 10 hand-cut stencils and spray paint. For those curious behind the process can watch Ian’s video below.  With an edition of 15, the 30″ x 40″ prints retail for $188.  Patrons have a choice between a gold or silver version.

About two years ago, I gave mention to Johnny Lee’s homebrewed headtracking Wiimote Hack.  Ever since, I haven’t seen much on tracking gadgets.  That is until rAndom international has teamed up with designer, Chris O’Shea.  rAndom international’s interactive art print, ‘Study for a Mirror‘ reminds me of a futuristic etch-a-sketch.  Except all the hardwork in producing the artwork is done for you.  The frame recognizes when someone is standing in front of it, tracks the face (via a tracking application written by Chris O’Shea) and paints it onto the blank light canvas.  The end product then slowly fades away and repeats for the next face.

For those that are interested in this interactive art print, Carpenters Workshop Gallery has available for purchase.  With an edition of 8,  I’m wondering how expensive each unit is.

East coast fans of Audrey Kawasaki should rejoice.  For those of you that follow her on twitter and her blog should already know that she will have a solo exhibit at the Jonathan Levine Gallery in New York next month.  The opening reception will be held on December 12th from 7-9pm with pieces displayed until January 9th.  As stated in her blog, she will unveil 20 new pieces.  26 days can’t come any sooner!

Both Dave and I agree this is Shepard’s best print for 2009 (our own opinion of course).  Coming from a slight hint of Burmese in our blood, we got a lot of love for Shepard’s latest work.  But for me personally, I’m in love with Shepard’s revisit to the same colorway as the ‘Peace Goddess‘.  Well the gold variant anyways.  The ‘Burmese Monk‘ print measures in at 18″ x 24″ and will go for $45 this Thursday at a random time.  Even with 450 units, I’m sure this will sell out under 5 minutes.  Best of luck to all that want this one.

For those that couldn’t get enough of Where the Wild Things Are, David Flores has a ‘Max‘ print available at Pandora’s Prints.  Measuring in at 16″ x 20″ with an edition of 20 pieces, the red ‘Max‘ print goes for $40.  In addition, the green colorway can be purchased at David Flores’s site for $55.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve purchased a Joe Ledbetter print or vinyl figure.  But I’m loving this new giclee print of his.  The 100 piece print measures in at 8″ x 10″ and is available here for $35.  What throws me off and amazes me at the same time is the newspaper mache-like background.  The background appears to be a new approach for Ledbetter, but it looks fantastic.  Hopefully, we’ll see more character designs as a part of the “Read All Over” series in the near future.

Entitled, ‘Lone Wolves‘ is a new art print by Florian Bertmer that has piqued my interest.  The giclee print measures in at 15″ x 22″, has an edition of 100, and will be $75.  To those that are feeling this multi color print,  be ready to click the submit order button at Shirts&Destroy seconds before 12pm EST hits this Friday.  On a different note, I’m really impressed the web images you see are taken by an iPhone.

Here’s a print that will instantly remind you that Halloween is around the corner.  Nick Derington’s ‘Famous Monsters of Filmland” print was a quick sell out back in June at SDCC.  The print measures in at 18″ x 24″ and runs for $25.  With only 40 or so left at Nakatomi Inc, I’m sure another these won’t last long.   On a different note, , I was thinking about how this print could serve as inspiration for a halloween costume with all of the monsters shown above.  Anyone on the same wavelength as me?

Clash of the Titans was perhaps one of my favorite Greek mythology movies back in my childhood.  So after seeing Ken Taylor’s take on Medusa, I had to share the latest Alamo Drafthouse Cinema poster.  Two colorways were originally available with the above red and green measuring in at 24″ x 36″ as the default.   Meanwhile  a more limited edition in purple and blue with glow in the dark eyes and teeth version sold out instantaneously.  The run was 110 for the red and green while only 40 were available on the purple and blue.  You can still pick up the general release poster for $30 here at Mondo Tees.

Back in May, aPaperTiger offered Melissa Haslam’s second limited edition print, ‘Apparition‘.  For this month, film school graduate and self taught artist Jeremy Asher Lynch gets the spotlight with his debut art print, ‘The Survival of Mickey on the Mississippi.’  The giclee print is limited to 25 pieces and measures in at 12″ x 15.5″.  Once again, the price tag is a bill.  When asked about Mickey Mouse being the subject matter, Lynch responded that Mickey is the embodiment of Hollywood and in this tough economy, even he needs rescuing.

Not sure where I found these prints but I remember going back to them a couple of times because they caught my eye. Well, a few of them caught my eye because of their funky-ness and bright colours. I don’t care much for Lisa Cinar’s prints outside of what I have posted here. She’s also published some cool kids books.

Cinar graduated from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design with a Bachelor in Visual Arts. She works out of Vancouver, B.C, creating art/illustrations for various different projects. She also loves kids books and is in the process of creating a children’s comic book/graphic novel.

She’ll also be reading her new book Paulina P. for Petersen at the Vancouver Word on the Street Festival on Sunday September 27th.

Thanks to OMG Posters!, I have a new artist to keep an eye out for.  Alberto Cerriteno produced the above letterpress print based off his first commercial illustration piece, ‘The Enamored Whale’.  So to pay homage, Alberto with help from Olivine Studio has created 250 8.5″ x 11″ 3 color letterpress prints.  These days instead of sitting on f5 Hell, I’m very much appreciative of the pieces of art that are affordable.  And to sweeten the deal,  Alberto packs them in stay flat mailer with a protective sleeve for the print.  At $24 dollars shipped to anywhere in the US, this is hard to pass up on.

The new Fringe Season 2 poster came out last week and when I first glanced at it, I thought to myself that the image seemed to have a lot of “Easter Eggs”, something that J.J. Abrams is known to do, dropping hints in posters and trailers. Anyways fans of the show have been trying to decipher what the items mean. As you can see by the image below fans have marked out all the things that popped out or seemed unusual and labeled what they are. Now we just have to find out what it means. One of our writers, The Bloated Penguin, once explained to me the whole meaning behind the “Slusho”, which Walter is drinking out of in this image, but I can’t remember, but I do remember it was something epic. So I’ll be tuning in once again this season.

Inglourious Basterds opened this past weekend, if you haven’t checked it out and aren’t sure if you should, then read the Bloated Penguin’s review here (don’t worry there aren’t any spoilers). Here’s a movie poster from Tyler Stout for the film Inglourious Basterds for The Alamo Drafthouse. The regular screenprint edition above (24″ x 26″) sells for $35 and is limited to an edition of 450, while the variant has a run of 80 and sells for $80.

Matt Haber has released his latest printed entitled, “Sniper”. Haber’s work is best described as “Pop Surrealism” and focuses on child like fantasies, surreal dreams and simpler times. Matt Haber’s work has been exhibited across the country and has received quite a bit of attention. This latest print, “Sniper”, is a 15.5 inch x 20 inch, 9 color screen print done on Stonehenge 100% cotton rag paper. These prints are limited to 100 and are available for $125. Jack White from The Dead Weather recently commissioned Minneapolis renowned gig poster designers Aesthetic Apparatus to create posters for The Dead Weathers national and Canadian tour. The result are the three pieces that you see here. They are available for sale for $40 each online at Aesthetic Apparatus’ site.

One of Audrey Kawasaki’s pieces, “Saying Goodbye” which appeared at Space Yui in May is up for grabs this weekend.  The giclee print’s dimensions are 19″x23″ and will come in an edition of 200.  Price ranges from $220 for the print alone or $480 framed.  It felt like a blink of an eye when previous prints were in the $200 range.  And for those that have never purchased an Audrey print before, a blink of an eye is all it takes for all 200 units to be sold out.  Good luck to those this weekend that want “Saying Goodbye“.

One of my favorite supporting characters in the Simpsons is Pedro the Bumblebee Man. Allthough known for his bit parts consist of slapstick humor, I think its the costume that usually gets people laughing.  I don’t think I’ve seen him w/o his costume and not saying “”Ay yai yai, NO ME GUSTA!”.  Recently, The Bumblee Man has been given the David Flores treatment via an 16 x 20 print.  3 colorways are available with the yellow, grey and black colorway as the standard edition.  A more limited  orange/blue/green and pink/blue/green variant are also available in 18 x 24 dimensions but with a smaller edition of 9 units each.  Available here.
