Photographer Charlie Rubin hollered at us a bit ago and I finally had a chance to check out his work. I was definitely not disappointed when I went through his portfolio, his shots are broken down into four categories essentially, you have your mixed-media, black & white shots, color photos and snap-shots. Initially it was the mixed-media portfolio that really caught my eye, but the color photos are just as beautiful. My favorite photos is the one above as well as the color photo with the blue wall below in the gallery.

Pictures from the new Rankin (John Rankin Waddell) book Heidilicious, which as the title may suggest features pictures of Heidi Klum. Rankin’s book, his eighth, features some of the most recognizable shots of Heidi Klum that one would have ever seen, especially if you have a collection of them for “research” purposes.  Below is just a snippet of what you can expect to find in the book, which you can purchase over at amazon.com for $40.95.

This is possibly NSFW for some of you out there. Supreme continues their use of hot ass women in their campaigns, the last one I recall was Krista Ayne and that campaign was deadly hot. This one features model Rosa Acosta and one of my favorite photographers, Terry Richardson. The photos as one would expect from Terry Richardson are very risqué and suggestive. The gallery below and a video of the shoot, sort of a behind-the-scenes if you would.

Back in September we showed you the Fall / Winter ad campaign for Kate Moss’s line at Topshop (seen here). Released just a few days ago is the latest shoot, her ad campaign for the Christmas 2009 collection which is now officially available in all Topshop stores as well as topshop.com. Her cleavage in the second photo in the gallery is spec-tac-ular. Just sayin’.

The concept submissions and finds on Yanko Design never cease to amaze me.  Recently featured is an illuminated Polaroid style 3d hanging vase by  Hwajin Jung.  Jung’s design was inspired by the ideals that a polaroid picture can sustain memories.  Therefore by adding a plant, nature is preserved or rather captured at its best.  I’m not sure if we’ll ever see this design go into production, but its definitely well thought out and executed.

Raquel Zimmerman + Mario Sorrenti + KAWS = one pretty awesome photo shoot for Vogue Paris November 2009 issue. KAWS sets up the whole tempo with his artwork prominently displayed in every shot and the long ass limbs of Raquel Zimmerman combined with the Sorrenti’s eye make for a pretty cool shoot.

It’s everybody’s favourite time of the year, where calendars get shot and dropped, especially when they’re stacked with beautiful neked women shot by one of my favourite photographers Ellen Stagg. I picked up last years calendar and was not one bit disappointed, see here (NSFW). This years edition features Justine Joli, Joanna Angel, Jessie Lee, Nicole, Zoli, Heather Vandeven, Steam, Shay Laren, Ryan Keely, Jeanette Jones, Asa Akira, Charlotte Stokely and more! Scarlett Johansson has been busy in the fashion world, having just locked down the Mango campaign, she also makes a return to the latest Dolce & Gabbana cosmetic Spring / Summer ads. Something about these photos make her look very much like Marilyn Monroe and that may have been the intention from photographer David Gandy.

First off I have to admit, I must be the only one that didn’t get to attend the Glow in the Dark tour, with that said, Kanye West has released a photo book of the epic tour that he did in 2008. From the preview images below the photos look AMAZING. The book comes with an interview with tour collaborator Spike Jonze, 400 photographs, a CD with unreleased music and an interview with Ye. The book will run you $50 retail but on Amazon.com you can cop the Trade Edition for $29.99.

Canon is set to drop their latest DSLR in the form of the 1D Mark IV. This DSLR is a BEAST! It comes packed with 16 megapixel, ISO up to 12,800 but expandable to 102,400, 45-point auto focus system, 10 frames per second bursts annnnnnd 1080p video compared to Nikon D3s’ 780p. I’m an avid user of Nikon, started with the D60 and gradually moved up to the D90 and looking to make a move some time to a D3s or whatever more awesomer comes out at the time, but this Canon truly is a jaw dropper. Available late December for $5000.

Mango has changed it up for the Winter season and brought on actress Scarlett Johansson, replacing Penélope Cruz whom repped the brand for four years,  to be model / look for the brand. In addition to changing up the spokesmodel, they’ve also enlisted a new photographer, Mario Sorrenti, takes over for Mert and Marcus who have shot the last four campaigns as well.

Here we have two fine ladies of BSG, for those that do not speak geek, that’s Battlestar Galactica. Both coincidentally are Canadian, yeah Canada, Grace Park and Tricia Helfer are on the cover the November issue of Maxim, below is the some of the images from the shoot as well as a  behind-the-scenes video, in which I kept looking for nipples. I once saw Grace Park on the streets of Vancouver in a barely there piece and the buttons on my pants nearly popped off. Just sayin’.

Here’s the newest ad campaign by Uniqlo’s line Heattech and was photographed by well-known fashion photographer Mario Testino. Not only did Uniqlo drop some fat cash on a photographer, but they really laid down some cash on the model department. Some of the folks I can recognize are Sasha Pivovarova, Erin Wasson, Lily Donalson, Boyd Holbrook and Daniel Liu to name a few. Thoughts on the campaign? Feels kinda vanilla doesn’t it?

Here’s a hot photo shoot of French actress Audrey Tautou done by photographer Max Vadukul. Her latest film project, Coco avant Chanel, hit theatres at the end of September I haven’t personally seen it, but according to Rotten Tomatoes, 65% of critics liked the film, so it can’t be that bad. Anyways I’m not too sure what this shoot was intended for or if it was suppose to come out prior to the release of the actual film as part of the promo. But in any case these are looking great.

A month ago, we were blown away by Jan Wöllert and Jörg Miedza of LAPP’s work.  Here are some more recent photos by the duo with spheres as the central theme.  It still amazes me how no digital enhancements were needed to produce the end result.

Adobe Systems Incorporated has officially launched, Photoshop.com Mobile for iPhone, a Photoshop CS4 app for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.  The app will allow users to edit photos on their devices and upload photos to share on Adobe’s Photoshop.com. The app is only available in the U.S. at the moment and free to download in the app store. Below is a screenshot taken from Adobe’s website:

I have tested the application and I am pleased with the new photo that I edited on Photoshop. The iPhone receives another brownie point in my book!

From Adobe, the application will:

* Transform your photos with essential edits like crop, rotate and flip.
* Correct and play with color by adjusting the saturation and tint, enhancing the exposure and vibrancy, and converting images to black and white.
* Use the Sketch tool to make photos look like drawings, and Soft Focus to give photos a subtle blur for artistic effect.
* Apply dramatic changes with effects such as Warm Vintage, Vignette and Pop. Edits or changes can be undone or redone so you can experiment without the worry of losing your original photo.

Ladies, get that artistic side out. Jimmy Choo is holding a competition called “72″. To enter all you need to do is take a picture of you, your shoes (I’m assuming Choos) and the number 72 incorporated somewhere in the photo. My favorite of the entries I’ve seen is above, called “Distortion”, some other favorites can also be seen below.

The winner of the competition will be announced 72 hours after the closing competition date of December 7th. Some of the photos will be featured in a launch event on October 29th, so if you want to be considered for that get your entries in quick.

So what is Project PEP? It’s a collaboration project between Jimmy Choo and Elton John AIDS Foundation. Specifically the project is designed to support the funding of the Simelela Rape Centre in South Africa.

“We are women helping women and we are proud to continue our collaboration with the compelling and urgent initiatives of the Elton John AIDS Foundation and to provide a voice for under-privileged women in South Africa. From this project initiative Jimmy Choo will be donating 25% of the net sales from Project PEP to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

The Selby just recently wrapped a shoot campaign with Nike 6.0 and they’ve posted a bunch of the images on their website, essentially a sample of his favorites. In a quick message he writes that he “traveled to Tahiti, Georgia, Florida, NJ and Brooklyn to shoot some of Nike 6.0’s top athletes in their environments.” The results as you can see are pretty dope. Here’s an amazing photographic series called Pleasantville by photographer Jonah Samson. Tagline for Pleasantville, “Violence and debauchery run rampant in a small town called Pleasantville“. Pretty amazing photography work here working with miniatures, at first I wasn’t sure if there was some tilt shifting involved or not, but I don’t think there is, just good old fashion shooting on his part. Sex in the woods, check, car wrecks, check, murders, check, yep, just another day in Pleasantville.
