This morning I woke up to an email from Benny Gold saying he has finally opened up his online shop. I have been a huge fan of Benny’s for sometime now, I am glad to see he has his own brand out, and now the online shop.

At first I wasn’t to sure if I was going to beable to make this event, but as my day kept going on the more it had me thinking “I just need a drink tonight”. With that said I got on blackberry messenger and hit up Peter (PUMA) who was also in need of a drink as well. We tossed a few ideas back and forth, and decided if we are going to drop coin on some drinks might as well be for a good cause. We headed over to the W hotel for the (RED)wire event. Right when you walk in you entered the Whiskey Blue which was lit up in what other color than red, at that point a conversation me and Peter had in the car made me realize having dinner before the event would of been the smart idea, mistake number one. Lets rewind really quick to the convo me and Peter had in the car.

P : “Yo I’m hungry maybe we should grab a bite to eat before we start drinking?”

N: “Eat? We will just fill our belly’s up with drinks, who needs food!”

P: “Your right Neran no wonder why they call you God”

So maybe he didn’t call me God, but you get the point. Ok back on track here – right when got to the W people where already there, and wearing red. We were wearing black, mistake number two of the night. We headed to the bar where the lovely bartenders where telling us about the INSPI(RED) cocktail, I didn’t hear a word the bartender said, but drinking and having some of the money go for a good cause, I’ll take two please! Another side note, listen to what the bartenders say, if you don’t you will be handed a very strong red drink in with a major buzz. At this point me and Peter are feeling good for two reasons, we are supporting a good cause and the drinks gave us a nice buzz. As I am ordering round two they start showing a film which showcases all the artist they are working with, to my surprise I start to hearing “Brooklyn we go hard, we go hard, Brooklyn we go hard – this is black hoodie rap”. You guessed it one of the artist (RED) worked with for this project was J HOVA, aka Mr Bro-ok-lyn. As we are watching the film, head bopping to the beat a great picture of Notroious BIG comes on, the first thought to pop in my head is Biggie’s lyrics “You can find me in DC at Howard Homecoming”, I rushed the bartender to get us round two because now the film has my full attention. I am not going to ruin the film for everyone, but I do encourage you to look into where you can find the film and how you can do you part to help the fight against Aids. I will say the event was a success, don’t forget that (RED) is even doing a lot of work in the fashion industry too, shoes with Converse is just one example It would be great to see them incorporate (RED)wire and the products they are doing in the fashion industry together into one event, only time will tell.

As the event started to wind down we were given a little tour of the W hotel. I am huge fans of hotels that are pushing the bar and making their properties stand out from the regular cookie cutter hotels. Pictured below are few of the interesting things we saw on our tour.  Now that I think of it, I wish we could of seen some of the rooms and how the decoration was in there, but for now here is what we saw.

I’m going to start out this post by saying I AM A BLACKBERRY ADDICT. There I said it, it lets me keep up with my three different email accounts, the Blackberry messenger is a good way to keep up with friends, and texting is so much easier than trying to text on regular cell phone.

Most of us have seen that Obama has been on his Blackberry most of of the campaign, keeping up with new articles, blogs, speeches etc. I wonder what steps Obama is taking right now to get ready to have his blackberry leave his life. Personally if I had to give up my Blackberry I would take it harder than breaking up with some chick.

Everyone might get tired of me saying “when I had my shop in Washington DC” pretty soon but the truth is the shop helped me build a lot of close relationships with brands and designers. One of the brands was Not For Everyone (N4E1) based out of Hong Kong. Steve Lee over there is one of the head guys running things there, if you ever meet this fool never offer to take him to the strip club, he will say no and then bug you for the rest of your life to take him another time. Part of the LV bespoke program this lovely iPod case can be yours, but make sure you have your plum or black amex ready to get your hands on it! I will admit I am one of the biggest LV fans out there, from my belt, wallet, business card holder, I even have the toiletry kit! I will have to pass on this for two reasons, one my pockets are not that deep yet, and two I do not have 20 iPods for this case to hold, but if you insist on getting me a nice Christmas gift to add to my LV collection then be my guest!

So couple days ago at my office we were having the discussion about how Kanye is crazy enough to drop an album that was totally different than the tracks he has been leaking all over the Internet. Within this discussion we were talking about how he might as well have a different album cover. Look at this, images have surfaced of an album cover done by Kaws a Brooklyn based artist. Supposedly this is only for Itunes release, but I guess we will have to wait till November 24th to find out. Also a side note, I’m starting to think personally that the album will be totally different then all what Kanye has been leaking out there. We will just have to wait one week to find out what is really going on.

I have know Alex from Homeroom for many years now. When I was opening up my store in Washington DC he was one of the few people from the get go who believed in us. This was back when Homeroom was only doing custom hoodies. Its has been a great pleasure to see a good friend grow his line from custom hoodies to cut&sew pieces. This past Saturday we connected with Axis to do his first solo art show at SURU presented by Rose’s Cocktail Infusions. All in all the event was a huge success.
