Intellivision recently announced their comeback. Spearheaded by Tommy Tallarico, as well as co-founder, Steve Roney and other gaming veterans the upcoming Amico, is aiming towards engaging all ages. The family oriented gaming console will have two dockable controls (a nod to the original), but outfitted with bluetooth and a 3.5” touchscreen. Rather than buying more controllers, Amico can allow up to eight players via an smartphones. Old titles (yes to R-Type!!!) and new titles are due out with a very attractive price range of $2.99 to $7.99 without the need for DLC add-ons. Tallarico does mention that Intellivision’s goal isn’t to compete with the modern consoles, but rather offer a low entry barrier to family gaming with modern amenities such as leader boards and online tournament play. The Amico is due to come out on October 10, 2020. At a price point of around $150, we think this may be an awesome present for a niece or nephew. Around Christmas 2020, that is.
