If Under the Dog was any indication that indie anime projects can be successfully funded, here’s another exciting project to check out. Up and coming anime director, Sae Okamoto, hopes to bring her project, Mecha-Ude, to life with the help of anime and manga fanatics.
As you all can see in the promotion clip below, Mecha Ude is a coming of age tale of a boy named “Hero” Having discovered a mechanical arm called Mecha Ude, the two set off on a series of adventures as protagonist and his familiar. In Pokemon or Digimon fashion, there is also a “Heroine” who happens to have two mecha-udes as well as a “Villain”. We’re hoping the characters will have real names as the project continues.
With the support of fans, Sae and her collaborators including Tatsushi Momen (known for Sushi Police), Narasaki and Seiji Toda involved with the music (think Code Geass and Deadman Wonderland), this is definitely a project worth backing. There are twenty-four days left until the project ends and it’s looking positive for the team. Pledge levels range from wallpapers for starters all the way to a private screening party.
