Sometimes, all you need is one great coat. However, in my case, it’s more like five because I like having a range of styles in my arsenal. As I mentioned in my last post, I was recently in Portland and I visited Madewell for the first time ever. Crazy, right? Whilst there, I fell in love with a coat—a coat I now regret not purchasing.
The Monsieur Coat is a simple heather grey coat. With notched lapels and patch pockets, it’s unassuming in terms of its design, which makes it such a perfect coat. It’s made of a super soft wool-poly-viscose blend and is quite warm (at least it was when I tried it on). One thing to make note of: this coat is quite long and if you’re around 5’3″ like me, the bottom hem will hit you around your knees.
As for how to style it, I can easily see this coat paired with a basic tee, mom jeans and black Chelsea boots, with a cross-body bag to tie it all together. Dress it up or dress it down—the possibilities are endless.
