Hard, fast, and remorseless only scratch the surface when it comes to describing the sound and vibe that consumed the Electric Owl this past Friday. White Lung made a serious return to Vancouver with their third album “Deep Fantasy.”
The quartet lead by Vocalist Mish Way delivered a show you would expect from the Vancouver veterans. Accompanied by Kenneth William on guitar, Anne-Marie Vassiliou on drums and newest member Hether Fortune on bass, White Lung’s sound has begun to evolve over the years.
The set was roughly 35 minutes or so, and straight from the get go the crowd was rowdy in the best way. With a rather controlled but involved mosh pit the encouraging, trashy, fast paced song delivery got the mish mash of old and new fans ready and wanting more.
The dark ambiance in the Electric Owl lent itself to the headliner and the opening bands with a heavy raw excitement thick in the air. With the band recently relocating to Los Angeles and signing to Domino, White Lung’s potential is at an all time high, and rightfully so.
