If there was any hesitation on whether Gwar would impress sans their frontman of 32 years, Oderus Urungus AKA Dave Brockie, those doubts were put to rest with Tuesday’s performance at the Commodore ballroom.
The show proved to be an homage to the recently deceased Oderus Urungus with the help of the newest addition to the group and co-lead, the futuristic amazon Vulvatron. Gwar took the crowd on a journey through time via makeshift time machine to answer the question “Where is Oderus Urungus?”
Anyone who’s been to a show or heard of the thrash metal /shock rock band knows to expect that among other fluids there will be a combination of blood splatter from floor to ceiling and loud, fun, accessible rock, and they did not disappoint.
The Commodore Ballroom was the prefect venue for those who chose to be front and centre embracing the blood bath and enduring the rowdy crowd and inevitable future bruising, as well as those who chose to watch from the safety of the balcony.
