You guys are in luck because I’ve stumbled upon another new artist that you’ve got to start listening to. If you’re a fan of James Blake, then you’ll definitely want to keep reading and hit the play button.
Born in Nigeria but raised in East London, Vicktor Taiwò is one young and majorly talented lad. His soulful voice, combined with hazy, electronic beats, make for a stunning audio experience that rivals James Blake’s early material.
Taiwò’s debut original track, “Digital Kids”, is a beautiful piece of work that features rapper Solomon, who joins in with a handful of slow, low-key verses near the end of the track. The track also had it’s world premiere on Annie Mac’s BBC Radio 1 show, which is a pretty huge deal for any up-and-coming artist.
Of course, Taiwò followed “Digital Kids” up with another ace tune, “Paradise Island”. And I would probably go as far as to say that his second single is even more beautiful. “Paradise Island” is the conclusion to the two-part story that began with “Digital Kids”, and it only left me longing for more.
Definitely keep your ears peeled for this guy. Vicktor Taiwò is one to watch in 2014.
