For those of us in the Mid-atlantic region this weekend will be hectic, but extraordinarily exciting. Why? Because Otakon 20 is among us. For the layman and laywoman this means absolutely nothing. However, for those into anime, manga, j-pop, cosplay, steampunk, comics, art toys, etc., Otakon at the Batimore Convention Center is a BIG DEAL. The event kicks off this Thursday afternoon with festival games, live performances and plenty of other fun stuff. But for the rest of us, the real fun officially begins on Friday.
The schedule went live this past Friday, but as I’ve advised in the past, download the Guidebook app to stay on top of events. Also new to Otakon 20 is Lounge 21 at the Hyatt Regency where swing dance, biru (cash bar only) and more anime talk happens.
Personally, I’m looking forward to all the panels and premieres of the live action Rurouni Kenshin, Wolf Children as well as Gyo: Tokyo Fish Attack! by the master of horror manga, Junji Ito. This year yours truly also plans on attending Otakon’s concert series as well as a few workshops. Fun times are up ahead so stay tuned for Otakon 20 coverage.
