I have no idea why this model is so unhappy. These dresses are as sweet as cotton candy, and the plastic insert is pretty cool. I’m drawn to these dresses because they’ve got a classic shift-dress cut, but look completely futuristic at the same time with the injection of PVC material.
The dresses, which are made from cotton (aside from the PVC bit) fit oversized and a bit T-shirt-like, which keeps things casual. This isn’t an “investment” dress that you’re going to wear ten years from now, but it’s one that’ll get a lot of attention if you’re rocking it this summer.
Because the PVC detail is already so unusual and flashy, I’d stick to minimal accessories with this one. Geometric earrings or a graphic-print purse would enhance the mod-vibe of the dress—as would a pair of platforms. If you fear of looking too Baby Spice, go opposite and match the dress with a borrowed-from-the-boys pair of brogues or a roughed-up pair of canvas kicks. I just wouldn’t go with stilettos or trying to look too refined on this one. You’ll look like a weird time capsule.
The pink and blue PVC dresses are $69 over at Pixie Market.
