With the long-weekend comin’ up, y’all are going to be partying in the USA… just like Miley. And when one parties during the long-weekend, it’s best to wear as little as possible, in case of heat stroke, of course. When the mercury rises, I opt for unfussy basics in fun colors and prints, and that’s why I’m a big fan of the romper. For me, it’s easiest to just throw on a single piece, not having to worry about mixing and matching separates. And when rompers fit right, they can actually look good (as opposed to those terrycloth strapless short-short rompers that were popular about a decade ago… shudder).
I like this Crochet Dot Romper by Free People, not only because it offers a comfortable fit, but the graphic pattern-mixing is totally on-trend and stylish for summer. The romper is a loose fit, with a slightly fitted high waistline and sweetheart neckline. The bold black-and-white polka-dotted print is softened by crochet boarder on the front of the neckline, hemline, and straps. A criss-cross back brings interest to the back of the piece as well, while hip pockets on either side keep things casual.
Because this romper is black and white, it will really go with anything. Pair the piece with bright canvas sneakers or wedges that have a graphic heel. I also like it with flat sandals for days frolicking by the beach. It’s hard to load up on accessories when it’s hot and sticky out, so keep things simple with a cool hat or standout shades. When the sun goes down, throw your favourite cropped denim jacket over top to party into the wee hours of the morning.
