As much as I love the look of high heels, I don’t wear them that often. I’m much more of a flats and sneakers kind of gal. In the summer, I like to mix it up with platform or flatform sandals. Unlike high heels, these shoes are usually super comfy (like wearing a pair of flats a few inches off the ground), and these babies give you height—ideal for leggy hot-weather looks.
When I first spotted the Loeffler Randall Starrett Platforms, I couldn’t help but think that this pair had a touch of Japanese inspiration. They remind me of the wooden sandals that women wear under kimonos.
These platforms boost you up a good few inches, without all the pain of wearing straight-up high heels. I particularly love the woven raffia detail along the edges—so unexpected, yet completely on-trend with this season’s pattern-happy prints. The thick black leather straps contrast the light wooden platform, and the shiny silver buckle adds a modern touch to a classic shoe.
The great thing about a pair of sandals like this is that it will go with just about everything in your closet. They’d be a nice alternative to wearing heels or flat sandals with summer dresses and skirts, and don’t even get me started on how good your gams would look when pairing the platforms with super-short denim cutoffs.
The Loeffler Randall Starrett Platforms are currently on sale (yes, on sale—and you thought you’d have to wait until the end of summer for sandals to go on sale) from $395 to $277 over at the Loeffler Randall online shop.
