Jolita Jewellery: Be still my heart

Jolita Jewellery - Malaga Red Dip-Dyed Necklace

I die. I don’t know how or when, but I will one day own a necklace by Jolita Jewellery. They’re opulent, lavish, exciting, and I’m dying to find an excuse (and money) to buy one.

You may think my obsession will subside after I find something else shiny and pretty to look at. However, my obsession has been going strong for over 6 months now. These necklaces, designed by Algis Abromaitis of Jolita Jewellery are nothing short of majestic. They literally made me jump from my chair in utter astonishment the first time I saw them. You may think I’m exaggerating and being melo-dramatic but I promise you, I lost my mind a little when I saw them.

A little about the mastermind behind Jolita Jewellery: Abromatis, born in Lithuania, living in London, started his jewellery career after having a recurring dream about a bracelet. One day he decided to act on that dream and make a bracelet: thus a hobby was born. In 2008, he turned his hobby into Jolita Jewellery.

Abromatis is inspired by “museums, books, cinema, and dreams” (Boticca interview). He sources his materials from around the world and is more of an experimenter than a planner. He’s quoted as saying, “I do not draw, so I rely a great deal on experimenting. When I start working on a piece I don’t really know how it will end up looking. It usually takes me more than a day to complete a piece of jewelry. Sometimes it could be as long as a couple of months from the conception of an idea until I have a finished piece of jewelry” (Boticca interview).
