We normally associate hyperrealism with the art technique, but can now also apply the term to baked goods. At a family Christmas gathering, London based Baker Sarah Hardy presented an orange and rum spiced cake cleverly masked with marzipan to resemble a raw turkey. The reaction (pre and post-carving) as anticipated made the one day effort worthwhile. For patrons of Sarah Hardy Cakes, this creation will go commercial starting next Christmas.
On a side note, doesn’t said “Raw turkey” cake resemble a Cantonese steamed chicken?
