Obsession de la Semaine: Tamaryn

I think I have found the perfect album for the fall season.  Tender New Signs is the sophomore effort from Tamaryn and and it couldn’t be any more perfect for lounging around on the couch under a pile of warm blankets.  Embarrassingly enough, I actually am quite late in finding out about the California-based duo and I was introduced to them via Thought Catalog.

Comprised of New Zealand native, Tamaryn, and her producer/collaborator extraordinaire, Rex John Shelverton, the duo makes some pretty rad ambient tunes that are all things hazy and dreamy.  The melodies are languid and   Similarly to Porcelain Raft, Tamaryn makes me feel like I’m on drugs and that I’m taking some weird trip down the rippling waves of their music.  They formed back in 2008 and released their first album, The Waves, in 2010.

Next week, Tamaryn’s new album (and the current soundtrack to everything I do), Tender New Signs, hits stores but in time being, the duo’s label, Mexican Summer, has been kind enough to stream the album in its entirety.  Have a listen and lose yourself in its majestic beauty.
