New York Fashion Week is coming to a close and one of the standouts for me this time around has been Alexander Wang‘s spring/summer 2013 collection. No surprise there, considering I’m a major Wang fan. I swear by my T by Alexander Wang basics and my ‘Rocco’ bag, as heavy as it is, is one of my favourites in my collection. Wang never disappoints and always makes me want to blow all my savings on his collections.
This past Saturday, Wang showed his most recent collection and he definitely made the attendees gasp aloud not only from the amazing clothing but from the glow-in-the-dark finale. Futuristic and sporty, the collection featuring pieces with plenty of cutouts and panels that were given the look of being suspended thanks to some barely visible fish line. There were dresses, shorts, parkas, crop tops, knits and more – most of which were done in an innovative way that Wang called “leather-blocking.” And the shoes! Most outfits were styled with the thin-strapped shoes but the black leather boots with the suspended cutouts were killer. Those are definitely going on my spring wishlist.
Everything about this collection and the runway show was nothing less than fierce, which was expected from Wang. Fierce clothing for the fierce woman. These garments are definitely not for the timid and if you do decide to slip on something like the slinky panelled dress or the fabulous crop top, you best work it. I cannot wait for this collection to hit store shelves. Alexander Wang, I salute you.
