More and more designers are launching their own versions of fashion sneakers, which is great news for chicks who just can’t get enough kicks. Here’s a swish shoe from French designer Pierre Hardy, whose creative sneakers and dessert booties have reached fashion cult status.
Hardy’s creative eye has been tapped by Hermes, Christian Dior, Balenciaga, and the Gap, but after launching his own namesake label in 1999, he made his way into footwear two years later. Now, he runs successful men’s and women’s collections, while maintaining his post as creative director at Hermes’ fine jewelry division.
These leopard-print high-top sneakers are the perfect marriage of fashion and function. Hardy gives his classic and ever-so-popular grey suede high-tops an update with a muted leopard print. The kicks feature a 1-inch white rubber sole, laces up front, and a Velcro strap.
A pair of sneakers like these gives basic skinny jeans a sassy update. What I’d really love to see these paired with is a cool, summer little black dress. Add some statement accessories, perhaps a few chunky rings and a spiked necklace, and a dash of color by way of a clutch, and you’re ready for a night out, proving that when it comes to fashion and function, kicks still trump heels.
The Pierre Hardy kicks ring in at $495 over at Net-A-Porter.
