When I first heard about Mrs. Eastwood and Company, I got a little excited, thinking it would be a Graduate-type coming-of-age-tale where a lady named Mrs. Eastwood runs some sort of cougar brothel out of her Beverly Hills mansion.
I was wrong.
That show would be waaaaay more interesting than what Mrs. Eastwood and Company, E! channel’s new reality show family, is all about.
Blame it on the Kardashians, but these days it seems like any So Cal mom with at least two pretty daughters is literally tryin’ to “keep up” with the Kardashian clan. News flash. It won’t work. They got Kanye now.
So Mrs. Eastwood and Company follows mom Dina Ruiz, a news reporter-turned-band manager who happens to be married to superstar filmmaker Clint Eastwood. The show centers around mama Eastwood, her daughter Morgan Eastwood, and her live-in step-daughter Francesca Eastwood (whose mom is actress Frances Fischer). There’s also Overtone, a boy band from South Africa, that Mrs. Eastwood adopted (after hearing them sing while Clint was in South Africa filming Invictus). Throw into the mix, Dina’s brother, who’s Overtone’s road manager, Francesca’s much-older photog boyfriend, a bunch of semi-staged drama, and you’ve got yourself an E! reality show.
Here’s hoping that Mr. Eastwood appears in several episodes. Will this show last more than a season? Probably not.
