For this year’s gift guide, rather than last year where I pored over countless items and obsessed over what should and shouldn’t make the cut, I decided just to go with my gut and get into that holiday spirit. So I ate a bunch of Thai takeout, drank 2 (or more) glasses of wine, and put on the Michael Buble Christmas special. Damn, I am sooo festive!!
Keeping with the Who the F is… theme, this gift will guide will be an amalgamation of things that peaked my interest this year and found it’s way onto my Christmas list. While the items featured here are diverse, it’s almost a guarantee that one of these items will be sure to warm the heart of any female on your list this year, so for all you hapless males out there scratching your heads on what to buy your lady this year, here’s some heartfelt suggestions from me to you:
Item #1: Comfort Retriever
Hailed as the golden retriever that is appropriate for smaller spaces, the Comfort Retriever is just like everyone’s beloved golden retrievers… but smaller. Seriously, who can resist such an adorable package?
Item #2: Alexander McQueen Skull Clutch
While perhaps monetarily similar, the Alexander McQueen Skull clutch is the perfect gift for the woman who may not quite be the down-to-earth, animal-loving type. This gorgeous piece of hardware is positively awe-inspiring with its intricate gold metal-work fashioned to resemble lace over a hot pink metallic shell. Lest you start to think this box clutch to be too girly, fear not, for it’s topped with the characteristic McQueen skull making this piece of couture perfect for the socialite (who has a rocker heart).
Item #3: Polka dot tights and black wedges
The essential pairing for the season, a pair of black polka dot tights and black wedges are key for any female’s closet. Polka dots are cheekier than plain black tights, providing warmth yet a hint of skin in the winter months. Black wedges are a great complement to pretty much anything, from skinny jeans, to short skirts, maxis and leggings. Easier to walk in then their stiletto cousins, wedges also transition well from day to night, and from season to season.
Item #4: Funky cell phone cases
When it comes to phone accessories, I seriously regret making the decision to have an Android over an iPhone. There really is no comparison between the two devices when it comes to fashionable and functional accessories. Case in point: these fantastic iPhone cases from Case Mate. What’s great about these cases is that not only are they gorgeous, but they’re also not something to hide away in your purse – unlike that ridiculously blinged out Hello Kitty case you bought from your neighborhood Asian market. I so did not buy one of those, by the way…
Item #5: A bright wool coat
Winters tend to not be known for their spectacular color spectrums, so why not add some vibrancy to those dark winter days by introducing a splash of color? Few things stand out more than the color red and this boldly scarlet wool coat from Modcloth is a perfect example of how to inject color (and style) into winter. This coat’s sleek single-breasted silhouette will keep your fave girly cozy, while touches like oversize buttons and a faux-leopard collar hint at the light-hearted spirit of its wearer.
Item #6: a hot man
Oh yes, all us females could use a little topless Harry Shum Jr. in our lives. Just look at those abs! Those adorable eyes! That chiseled jaw and those capable, yet gentle, looking hands! In the case though that you
fail aren’t able to get Harry Shum Jr. under your tree this year, then give your favourite lady the next best thing: the warm feeling of a big hug from you.
