Pendleton Woolen Mills pays homage to its roots with the Portland Collection, a special collaboration with three Portland, Oregon-based designers: Nathaniel Crissman, Rachel Turk, and John Blasioli. The collection is inspired by Pendleton’s century-old pattern iconic pattern, but has a distinctively modern feel. The men’s and women’s collections are made up of strong, neutral-toned pieces that can be easily mixed and matched, brightened up with a few pops of color that bring a modern, city-sophisticated edge.
The Cape in Smoke is a made from a tan virgin wool and cotton blend, with mustard yellow piping along the hem and on the inside of the large turtleneck collar. A cape is the perfect piece for post-blazer, pre-parka weather. It’s oversized fit gives it a cozy, casual feel, while it still breathes. Plus, the lighter tan and yellow color of this cape brings a little bit of color to a usually dark wardrobe.
Wear this cape over long-sleeve tops, flannel shirts, and nubbly wool sweaters if it’s chill out. Pair it with dark skinny jeans tucked into tan ankle booties or a pair of buttery equestrian-style knee-length boots.
The Cape in Smoke ($270) and other pieces from the Pendleton Portland Collection is available at Need Supply Co.
