Attending comic book conventions as a kid was always a treat for me. Having a plethora of vendors to shop from and fan art to appreciate is the equivalent of being a kid in a candy shop. This coming August 20th and 21st, yours truly will attend the Baltimore Comic Con 2011. On it’s 12th year at the Baltimore Convention Center, the two day event offers patrons a chance to stock up on comics, graphic novels, merchandise as well as meet with artists and participate in the costume contest. It’s been many years since I’ve collected comics and the protective mylar sleeves. And with that stated, I’m truly excited to see what a large scale event will entail.
Which leads to the guest of honor. For Baltimore Comic Con 12, Stan “The Man” Lee will be in attendance both days as well as the Harvey Awards Banquet. Tickets start at $30 dollars for the two day event (or $20 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday). For the hardcore fans that would want to attend the prestigious Harvey Awards Banquet, tickets can be purchased now online for $125. The award ceremony includes a 7pm cocktail kickoff with special guest, Stan Lee. For more info and tickets, head over to Baltimore Comic Con.
On a side note, scrolling through the sea of guests, I’m excited to see that artists Frank Cho and Jeff Smith (of Bone fame) will be returning this year.
