If you’re searching for a be-all-end-all shoe for spring, look no further than these futuristic heels from Taiwan footwear label Heavy Machine.
Heavy Machine is the brainchild of Michelle Wu, a graduate of FIT in New York, and Yoyo Pan, who studied at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Australia. They bonded over their mutual love of shoes and launched the line in 2007. The pair say that they draw inspiration from masculine structures and design lines as well as bright colors.
The shoe shown above is called the Giraffe Barbie. Giraffe, I’m assuming, from how tall you’d be with an extra 4.25″ in height, and Barbie from the ultra-girly pink, maroon, and white colorway. The materials are made from Italian leather, with a patent leather ankle strap. The piece de resistance has got to be the geometric heel and platform front, which gives the shoe its futuristic vibe.
These heels will have admirers ooh-ing and ahh-ing paired with minis, dresses, and even denim cutoffs come spring and summer, but I could also see them as a standout item right now paired over opaque black tights.
The Heavy Machine Giraffe Barbie heels are available on this side of the Pacific at Need Supply Co. for $324.
