reALIze by Michael Kalish

After three years in the making, Artist Michael Kalish in collaboration with architectural firm Olyer Wu will soon unveil reALIze, a breath-takingvisual homage to Muhammad Ali.  Consisting of 1300 speed bags, five miles of stainless steel cable and two miles of aluminum tubing, the monument looks quite abstract (with a boxing theme in mind) from all angles.  However, a dead on stare will reveal a 2D portrait of Muhammad Ali.  The larger than life monument will be unveiled at the Nokia Plaza L.A. from March 25th and can be seen through April 9, 2011.  Although not yet announced, reAlize will make its way to other major cities in the near future.
