Who the F is… Rebecca Minkoff?
I have a confession. I am a handbag whore. It’s true. My love for handbags (and shoes) is far greater than my love for eating, work, and certainly personal safety as I have literally walked into people before while checking out a bag in a storefront. What is about handbags that are so mesmerizing? Let me try to explain. When I find a handbag that catches my eye, my breath is taken away by its beauty, its craftsmanship, by the vision in my mind of how soft and delectable the leather would feel in my hands, or against my cheek, and the way how I would instantly look 1000x hotter when wearing it. Of course, such experiences are never going to be obtained by a handbag that you could pick up from your local H&M. No, worship worthy handbags usually are from worship worthy people, such as Karl Lagerfeld, or Marc Jacob. Sadly, I do not have the appropriate offering of money to allow for me to bow properly at the altar of designer couture goods, so I must make do with their lesser deity cousins, the lower end of the high-end designer spectrum. Do not pity me though, for I do not fret; the lower lines are not so low that you cannot get very high quality items for a much more worldly price – case in point, Rebecca Minkoff.
Rebecca Minkoff is a New York City designer whose line of handbags, accessories, and apparel is designed with the young, urban, luxury lover in mind. At only 26, Minkoff has already created a design empire that is a common favourite among the young Hollywood set and can be seen in tabloids and magazines everywhere. Minkoff first began designing clothes in 2001, but it was handbags that made her famous, after good friend Jenna Elfman encouraged her to design the iconic Morning After bag. In the days of It Bags, the Morning After Bag made Minkoff an instant star. A few years later, and Minkoff has become known for creating trendy, fun items that are right on the pulse of today’s fashions, while remaining highly wearable and affordable. You can find Rebecca Minkoff across boutiques in Canada, the US, Japan, Russia and France. And if you see any of the handbags featured here in Vancouver, give a girl holler won’t you?
