Who the F is…Rooney Mara

You may not have heard of this actress with the kooky (hmm it rhymes!) name, but if you’d get your head out from under that rock, then you would know that Rooney Mara is one of hottest, about-to-burst, stars out there.

The world first began taking notice of this slightly WASP-ish looking girl when she appeared in films like Youth in Revolt, and on television (Law & Order: SVU, ER); however her fame really began developing when she landed the coveted role of Facebook creator Mark Zuckerberg’s girlfriend in The Social Network.  Her performance in the film has been called stellar and the buzz only continues to grow as Rooney is slated to star as Lisbeth Salander in the American adaptation of popular Swedish novel, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.  Since her role was announced, the Internet has been aflame with endless comparisons to the original Swedish actress, Noomi Rapace, but so far it seems as if Rooney is holding her own, even injuring herself while training for the role.  So just where did this girl with the funny name come from?

Rooney Mara, or rather Patricia Rooney Mara, was born in Bedford New York.  Rooney comes from what sounds like a pretty sweet background, as her family has some serious sports pedigree.  I’m talking about being the daughter of the VP for player evaluation for the New York Giants, and great-granddaughter of the founders for the Pittsburgh Steelers AND the New York Giants!  This girl will kick your ass in football like nobody’s business.  Rooney is also wicked smart, being a psychology and international policy graduate of NYU.  So now you know she’s smart and hot, but now get this – she’s saintly.  Not being satisfied with just donating oodles of money to charities, Rooney took it a step further by establishing her own non-profit organization, Faces of Kibera, which seeks to provide medical services, housing and food to the people of the Kibera slum in Nairobi.  The actress finds that the balance of charitable work and acting is a necessary one for her to feel fulfilled, stating “I need to do both; I can’t just do acting.”

As much as I would love to hate her for being so perfect, I can’t find any reason why.  Rooney Mara, I officially girl crush you.
