Just about anywhere you go, gas stations, grocery stores and even company cafeterias sell energy drinks. I recently read an interesting article on DailyFinance in regards to “Anti-energy” beverages as the latest niche. In contrast to Red Bull, Rock Star or Amp Energy Drink, our groceries and convenience stores may soon be stocked with Slow Cow, Vacation in a Bottle or Mary Jane’s Relaxing Soda. But the real question is, are we ready to slow down? Personally, I’ve tried Mary Jane’s Relaxing Soda and much like the first time I’ve downed a Red Bull, it was a little hard accepting the after taste. But with valerian root, melatonin and chamomile being the dominant ingredients, I can’t help but think if its good for me, why not give it a try? How many of you all have tried anti-energy drinks and what brands have you seen so far?

As funny as the parody on the Red Bull branding is, I can’t imagine there is much of a market for these drinks. I’m gonna have to try one. This anti-energy drink trend is pretty interesting though. I bet that in the not too distant future kids will be amazed that we had taurine drinks. Sort of like how Cocaine was in Coca-Cola back in the 1890s.
