Anami Vice

Hitting the world wide web today is Anami Vice’s latest effort, They Made Me Do It. And it’s free for you to download at anamivice.com. As his facebook page states, “Don’t be that guy/girl who missed it.”

The album and it’s eight tracks are following a bit of a different feel from what Anami’s used to: They Made Me Do It is more mainstream, something Anami felt the masses wanted from him. In fact, in the first song he says, ” A lot of people who heard my last album…said, you know, he’s alright but he needs better beats. Some people saw me on stage and said I couldn’t wear the hat I was wearing… ya’ll made me do it.”

Now don’t be thinking he’s selling out on his indviduality to be pleasing the masses. Oh no. He’s tried something new, he had a helluva’ lot of fun doing it, and it’s awesome. I think his previous album was alright, but the mainstream beats on They Made Me Do It suit Anami better and I hope he keeps them up.

Only track I’m not so sure about is “Out of Order”. Not my steez, and no it’s not because of the “stupid bitch” line in the chorus.

As for the rest of the album, from the unexpected yet awesome electric guitar at the end of “This Ain’t Funny”, the fun that could be had with “Take Your Shirt Off”, to the comical rhyms of “Vodka Soda”, and the overall beats that have you groovin’ during each track, this album makes Anami a force to be reckoned with. I know I know, big words for a local hip hop artist, but I’m a fan.

Favourite tracks: This Ain’t Funny, Take Your Shirt Off, Vodka Soda, High Five. Download them all at anamivice.com

In my interview with Anami you can read about “Take Your Shirt Off” and the coincidence of T-Pain releasing a song at the same time, titled the same as well.

Somewhere in his “Take Your Shirt Off” rhyms and beats, Anami says, “Can I get a witness?”. Hell yeah Anami, Helllllzzzzz yeah.
